  1. Pyroblasted: try using RP2 pumps. They move source blocks from one place to another, and in the container you build, a deployer would most certainly suck up the lava into a bucket. Also, Sphax? Blech.
  2. Well, it really helps to have a base. JSTR wasn't built in a day, it took about 2 months, but having Vattic's Faithful as a base helped us so much.
  3. A DSL line gets you 1.5 Mbps download and about half that upload. I know, I used to be stuck on DSL. Cable providers are ok, (but watch for Comcast's hard 250GB per month data cap) but fibre is the best. Most telephone companies have at least some fibre offering, check to see if you're eligible.
  4. See, gavjenks's idea sounds reasonable. Exponential growth is very OP, but things like solars, i mean, have you tried making an HV solar array? Just an MV took 12 stacks of rubber, almost 20 stacks of refined iron, 6 stacks of coal dust, not to mention the tin, copper, redstone, etc. They're super expensive.
  5. At least a dual-core, preferably quad. You'll want at least 3 gigs of RAM, and most importantly, a good Internet provider. Avoid Comcast like the plague, but DSL isn't good either. Verizon FiOS is the best way to go, unless you happen to be one of the lucky few getting Google Fiber. Hope this helps. :)
  6. Seriously, man. Just have a vanilla server. Or, with the atmosphere you want, try Better than Wolves.
  7. Yeah, EE is able to take all the effort out of anything. :)
  8. Why disable any form of renewable energy? You seem to be the sort of admin that gets on everyone's nerves. Secondly, you want the mining laser to be used for everything except mining? Sounds legit. :/
  9. I believe there are manifest files (that's probably not what they're named though) on the Technic download server, with (if they're smart, which I'm assuming they are) MD5 checksums of each mod's download in addition to its location. If all you did was copy the Technic mirror to your PC, you'll probably have to change those manifests. They're likely YML files.
  10. If I'm going for cheaty EE infinite power (insert evil laugh here), I use a little-known IC2 feature: its energy storage blocks turn 1 redstone into 500 EU. As in, literally, pump redstone dust into the bottom of a Batbox, MFE, or MFSU (maybe IC2 machines as well) to create 500 EU. So, a mini-power flower pumping redstone into the bottom of an EU storage block is easy, cheap, and cheaty infinite power.
  11. If enough people are having errors, I'll post a weekly build in the OP.
  12. Ask your server admin. That's what I did, heck he even installed Forestry.
  13. Awesomeness man! The more this gets out there, the more I can get people to stop using a texture pack that looks like a comic book and start using something classy.
  14. 128x and above texture packs are really, really dumb. You're not going to make Minecraft realistic by upping the resolution; it'll be blocky, and it will always be blocky, as it is Minecraft. 32x is great, because 16x16 is a bit on the low end, and 64x is still ok, but pushing it. I mean, 128x128 is just yelling at the sky to be green. You'll never change a thing.
  15. MxJaded: just got fixed. Like 2 seconds ago. Along with various and sundry other bugs! :)
  16. That's my new solar camouflage solution, thanks! Also, Glimmer, you should use more pistons to push those two blocks up. A straight line of blocks without snow on them in a winter biome is a dead giveaway. You really should upgrade to Technic 7, if only for a simple, one-word reason: Frames. You can install Forestry on top, it's a simple drag-and-drop.
  17. No, um, the blocks are almost entirely finished, and those that aren't show Faithful32 textures. None of which are out of place. Items are less textured, but that's mostly because the Faithful ones are fine. I'm replacing items with better ones when I get ideas, but for now they look great, it's just not quite "AWESOME" yet. The blocks for all major mods are complete, and they look AMAZING! I play with others all the time on JSTRCraft, using JSTR, (obviously ) and can say with complete confidence that nothing looks glaringly out of place. (except Thaumcraft's cinnabar ore, which I fixed yesterday, but is still not quite right) EDIT: Actually, one thing is out of place in particular. Turtles' GUI is out of place because we textured for a newer version. You'll have to update your ComputerCraft to 1.41. Just download 1.41, place it in your .techniclauncher/tekkit/mods folder, and delete the Computercraft folder.
  18. Also, if you use a Charging Bench full of Lapotrons, that stores twelve million EU, and when you power the bench with redstone, it becomes an EU outputter instead of an inputter, so technically, if you really, really need compact, you can squeeze a couple million more EU out of one block.
  19. Hey, just a tip, don't use Sphax: it's overrated and rather boring. (cue shameless plug) JohnSmith Technician's Remix is really so much better. It's the bee's knees! (end shameless plug) or anything else, I mean Sphax is way too hyped.
  20. Yeah, nether goethermals are old news. Ender Storage has been disabled on JSTRCraft (the server I play on) so for my power, I use 3 mark i energy collectors, one condenser set to make lava cells, and a bank of geothermal generators. I had a nether pumping station, but that became out of the question, so I improvised a cheaty solution.
  21. For example, I can now tell you that the Transmutation Tablet GUI has been improved even from Glow's version (MC GUIs don't support partial transparency), but I'm asking for comments on it. Also, replaced the Faithful mining laser with the Righteous Bison from TF2. Most changes we make aren't huge changes, but incremental ones. Sometimes one of us has an epiphany and changes a crapload of stuff at once, but that doesn't happen often.
  22. You don't even need a google account, lol. You don't need to sync it to your pc, just download it from the site, which requires no account. As for why we're using GDrive, it's simple. The hardest part of the pack is deciding when to release. We can make small changes, or big changes, but possibly the small change might make it into a major release and the big one wouldn't. These sort of things simply don't happen with a rolling release. Look at Debian Linux, for example. Any time there's an update, it rolls out to you, the users, no matter what the size. It's really best for everyone, and it helps ensure that you're not stuck behind. You really don't want to be stuck behind when we roll out awesome features. :)
  23. Everything's through Drive. But I did put pictures and instructions on how to get the zip.
  24. Umm, Mo'Creatures? I guess so, I've always disabled Mo'Creatures on principle. Also, I will work on Balkon's Weaponmod.
  25. Seriously? OK. So, here's how it works. Even in the OP, I ask for constructive criticism, as that's the only way we'll ever get better. But this? This is not constructive. At all. "Your pack sucks" (I'm paraphrasing there) means nothing. It gives no reasons, no helpful suggestions, no ways we can get the pack up to your (apparently awesome) standards. Previous people had helpful criticisms, like "The ores don't match the smooth stone." Please, be helpful or :getout:
