Redstone In Motion now in full release as of June 23
theprolo replied to jakj's topic in Mod Makers Market
What happens if your regular support connects to the ground? Do blocks only connect directly to the support, or is it just anything connected to the support? I'm hoping it's the first one, because the second sounds quite dangerous. -
Depends how you define "dead". IC2 is no longer being developed, just updated to newer versions of Minecraft. There's no new features coming, and quite possibly no new bugfixes either.
-
I think it's a secret message... Perhaps the "lol" is the key... Case closed.

Basically, not so long ago SirSengir (the maker of Forestry) decided he didn't want any of the Technic packs to include his mod. Instead of asking for it to be removed, he made his mod detect whether it was being used by the technic directory and, if it was, make any bee hives in the world explode. Instead of targeting the makers of the pack, he decided that he should attack the players and their worlds by blowing up their hard work and even their new worlds. That's why Forestry hasn't been, and probably never will be, added to Tekkit.

Use Buildcraft power. There are plenty of tutorials on Youtube etc. And by the way, you should really use the edit button (at the bottom of any of your posts, next to the report button) to prevent multiposting.

Universal Electricity is from Voltz. Tekkit uses different power systems depending on which one you use.
-
It would be easier to use Sterling, but twice as efficient and not much extra effort to use Steam.
-
I think it's fine. It's by no means a "copy of voltz" just because it has a few Voltz mods in it, and IndustrialCraft is dead anyway. Far from "ruining" Big Dig, they've improved it by cutting out dead and useless mods, and made the pack much more sustainable by shedding mods which never update or improve.

Don't launch the minecraftserver.jar, use launch.bat.

Redstone In Motion now in full release as of June 23

You sure you didn't derp and use a mining well, Jay? All you need to miss is that tank in the recipe... I'll add this to my experimental pack today, I think. Should be worth messing around with, and just by adding mod compatibility I think you've already exceeded RP2 frames in my opinion, provided they aren't buggy. I'll tell you of any bugs/quirks I find while testing it. -
You don't press an option for offline mode, you just start it up and, if there's no internet connection, it'll ask if you want to run in offline mode.
-
Well, if it's public I'll see if I can hop in with a few friends and have some fun for a while if I'm not doing anything. I don't know what I'll be doing tomorrow, though, because you can't honestly expect me to plan a whole 24 hours in advance, can you?

question about redstone and stirling engines exploding
theprolo replied to DexterGecko's topic in Cafe Lame
Sterling engines can explode if the power isn't used up fast enough. Redstone engines can only power Wooden Pipes and Pumps, anything else they just won't work. Use Steam or Magmatic engines - they really won't explode, just slow down or stop if power isn't used up. Attaching them to redstone energy conduits will stop them from ever completely stopping, just reducing power output and fuel use substantially while the power isn't used up. -
I've already made a couple of contributions while I'm not doing anything - nothing huge, but it's the little parts that go into making something big I guess. Is there a link to this on the Technicpack website, because the only place I've found it outer than forum posts is in the IRC channel - it would be nice if there was a more obvious place for people to find it.
-
Luke already did: http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/luke’s-hopefully-comprehensive-modpack-making-guide.44197/ It's always worth looking at the stickies (posts pinned to the top of the forum) before posting, because a large amount of the time they answer your question.

They both start with an A D: Someone should sue the other for violating a copyright on they first letter of their nickname! It would make things less confusing...

The developer, Azanor, disappeared. It's gone up a couple of Minecraft versions because RichardG and Player (I think) updated the version, however no new content is coming and nobody's really sure if even the Minecraft versions will carry on updating for it much longer. The last official (also the last stable) release was more than 6 months ago now.

Tekkit Classic is only 1.2.5 for a reason. The new Forge/Bukkit ports are temperamental and quite a few of the mods either haven't updated or have been replaced. The closest the Technic team could get was Tekkit Lite, and that was for Minecraft 1.4.7. Now, even more of the mods are lagging behind.

[NEW MODPACK FOR TECHNIC]Hybrid CRAFT
theprolo replied to TrueTRG500's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I don't think modpack advertising posts are even allowed in the Platform Pagoda anymore... Could be wrong there though. -
Careful of this one, the nostalgia is crushing... And I only just caught the end of the era which the first level shows, too...

Chapter One Once there was a magical horse who lived with a fish. His name was Reaver McHasselhoffen. His fishy roommate went by the name of Grumpy Basselton. They both liked butts. They loved their butts so much that one of them decided never to sit on it again! So, they swapped out their cars for segways, and used those to get around. Now there was a kid named Billy the bully, and he did not like the fact they used segways. His hate for segways came from a childhood accident involving a giant marshmallow and a Segway he got for his 5th birthday, which was toohilarious gruesome to be explained in detail. So on their way to a brothel on their segways billy set up a devious plan. He mad a hole two men deep and covered it with leaves on the sidewalk where he knew they would go. He got bored and fell asleep. When he woke up, he forgot about the trap and fell into it. He died later that day. Of dysentery. The distinct smell of dysentery-induced death violated their nostrils and they couldn't help but retch down the deadly well as they looked down into it. Chapter Two Once upon a land hippo called Jesse Unoflop, there was a spider. It lived in a rather large pineapple. The pineapple was not under the sea, but was in fact on the continent of Australia, which is a continent on the land hippo called Jesse Unoflop. Sadly, Jesse died a couple of thousand years ago, due to being a land hippo and the sea being poisonous to him. Unoflop did not like the spider, so he hatched an evil plot! Sadly, Unoflop died before he could execute his plot, and it was left abandoned somewhere in Australia. The spider lived out the rest of his days in Australia, lamenting his lonely life and the fact nothing in Chapter Two of the book he was reading made sense. So instead, the spider threw the book into the fireplace, took a bottle of pineapple wine from the cupboard and watched a show on the divinghelmet tv. Chapter Three The shapeshifters alliance then realised what a pain in the ass chickens are and decided to eat them all. However, the princess of shapeshifters didn't get the memo, and shapeshifted into a chicken just as a chicken-eater mob came round the corner.

They slow down and reduce fuel usage when the power's not used. I'd say that qualifies
