I think there's a config option to change this, but I'm not sure where. Check through the configs folder, specifically any CodeChickenCore, NEI or Forge configs - if it's in there somewhere, that's where it'll be.

That's the failsafe mechanism to prevent it exploding. Hit it with a wrench and it'll start up again.
-
I think it might be the Ruins mod or something. Could be wrong about this though. http://www.atomicstryker.net/ruins.html

It is? I'm confused... :|

Emeralds spawning in extreme hills is actually a Vanilla feature.

I'm so lost now. What's the best source of power?
theprolo replied to Topster's topic in Tekkit Discussion
It depends on what you do. I think Combustion engines produce the most MJ/t, but are well known for blowing up for a reason. Redstone engines are definitely the worst - never use them to power machinery. In many cases, they won't even bother starting up because they're so weak. Probably the best methods of generating power currently are Magmatic Engines (4MJ/t - powered by lava), Steam Engines (2MJ/t - powered by coal, wood etc. - available earlier in game than Magmatic engines), and Biofuel generators (can't remember the exact numbers, but it's fairly powerful and runs off byproducts of some machinery - using saplings, seeds etc.). Take your pick - I personally like Magmatics. -
So.. with lack of a proper powering system...

It's not necessarily endgame power - it basically runs off the byproduct of mid-game machinery. -

That doesn't sound right - I'm sure it should be more efficient to use a powered furnace than a normal one. An ordinary furnace can create 8 charcoal per one charcoal. Were you using just wood there? I meant fueling the engines with some of the charcoal you make. -

Would it? As far as I can see, a dedicated steam or Stirling engine could easily create plenty of charcoal from a single piece of charcoal supplied. You just need to work out how many pieces of charcoal it creates per charcoal given to the engine, and feed the last one back into the engine. Infini-loop! -

Lagnalok's suggestion of using tree farms to get the wood, convert it to charcoal, then using the saplings in a bio reactor is quite a nice idea. Should keep you powered infinitely, and it'll look pretty nice too. -

Accumulators don't need powering and can't bug out and exhaust the water source. Probably faster too. Definitely a better option. -
Sorry, missed the "very" there. Thanks russjr :P

What's so bad about Steam? I don't think "a dozen Steam engines" would only barely power 3 machines. They output 2MJ/t, and AFAIK the most any one machine uses is 4. 12*2 is 24, and 3*4 is 12. You have 12MJ/t left over - assuming that every single one of those machines uses 4MJ/t. That's a pretty big excess in terms of MJ. 3 Steam Engines would easily run them at half capacity, which is more than "barely". -
There are a few ways to go about getting lava in the current Tekkit. You can set up a Nether pump and hook up liquid Tesseracts to transport the lava out of the Nether, you can use a Lava Fabricator from Minefactory Reloaded, and you can put Netherrack in a magma crucible. I tend to go for either the first or third choices, since the Lava Fabricator seems to require more power to make a bucket of lava than that bucket of lava can produce in a Magmatic Engine (although I could be wrong there). Power can be stored in a Redstone Energy Cell. You can also move a Redstone Energy Cell without losing the power inside it by shift right-clicking it, so it's pretty useful. I also recommend switching to Redstone Energy Conduits for power transport as soon as possible - they don't explode and aren't lossy.

Use either Steam Engines or Magmatic Engines. They're both more powerful, but it's much easier to keep the Magmatic engine automatically supplied if you know what you're doing because it runs on lava.

Don't know about diamonds, but emeralds spawn in massive quantities in Extreme Hills biomes - perhaps that's why you have so many.

I think there's a config option to disable the spawning. -
It only generates at certain heights, and has a minimum height too.
-
TE steam engine produces more power and requires water, I think.
-
Actual steam engines. They do need fuel to power them AFAIK, coal and stuff.
-
No, they're not included in Tekkit. You can use the Thermal Expansion Steam Engines though, just fill them up with water and fuel them (I think).
-
You aren't missing those mods - they're not meant to be in there. As for Equivalent Exchange, you're probably thinking of EE2. Tekkit uses EE3, which doesn't have the same features. You're not missing them, they don't exist. It's still in very early development, and the only thing it really has at the moment is the Minium stone.
-
I think they were removed with the Yogbox forums, because Yogbox is dead and no longer being updated.
-
Ignore that. It's just the MineFactory Reloaded compatability modules.

Which mods are you missing?
