Rbd25 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 This video was posted by a mojang employee Nathan "Dinnerbone" Adams. It features tripwires! I personally think they look like alot fo fun, could be awesome (yet kind of cliche for traps ) What does everyone else think of this? What devious devices do you foresee you making while using them?
Donmon Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I forsee many bangs and lag... A great deal of rage and hate... This will help many evil traps.. That's my oracle skills, hope you liked it!
hoho Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Is it just me or are these basically clorified pressure plates?
Donmon Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Is it just me or are these basically clorified pressure plates? are planks just retextured/changed wooden logs? Yes. They are imho. they need to be or else they wouldn't be tripwires do they?
Jay? Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Nah, these are way more useful than pressure plates. Pressure plates are glaringly obvious, and don't work if they're hidden
Pulse95 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 To be honest, This is one of the first ideas that is both very handy and sticks to the vanilla feel of the game; Unlike cats . . .
DemonCrusher36 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 down a hole put a tripwire, linked to a deployers and when the trip is activated, it will open a door at the bottom and deploy string, have it close after a few seconds. IMO thats an awesome entrance, its uses for a trap arnt limited ;P
A Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 To be honest, This is one of the first ideas that is both very handy and sticks to the vanilla feel of the game; Unlike cats . . . Exactly. It's very original, unlike the Ender Chest they're going to add to the game.
BurningCake Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Heh. These would be great for adventure maps. Now that I think about it, they're adding Adventure Mode too.
miniboxer Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Heh. These would be great for adventure maps. Now that I think about it, they're adding Adventure Mode too. new snapshot, there is both adventure mode, AND tripwires. woot.
Industrial Miner Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I have an idea for opening doors with it, but now I use pistons, RP and the lasers mod to do that. I walk to the door, I walk and interrupt the laser, the sensor state and opens de piston door.
danidas Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Now you can replace the obvious laser with a less obvious trip wire.
Fireheart Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Do mobs set these off? I'm guessing they do, but I have a cool idea...
The_DarthMoogle Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Adventure mode... I can't think of a single decent adventure map that involved not being able to place or break anything. Parkour doesn't count. That ran out of originality months ago.
Fireheart Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Yeah plus I don't think you can place blocks which is even worse.
Industrial Miner Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I'm 100% sure that I'll never start or even.play on an adventure map. :)
Eldmor Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Can the trip wires be reset or repaired in some way? I saw that you punch it off, but does it fall of or get destroyed when ran over? I assume explosions obliterate it.
BurningCake Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Can the trip wires be reset or repaired in some way? I saw that you punch it off, but does it fall of or get destroyed when ran over? I assume explosions obliterate it. You can replace the string to reset it if it gets tripped. Also, I'm guessing explosions do destroy it.
Pulse95 Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Adventure mode... I can't think of a single decent adventure map that involved not being able to place or break anything. Parkour doesn't count. That ran out of originality months ago. It is good for a Hunger Games map.
Fireheart Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 It is good for a Hunger Games map. What...? How? That's the only way to survive by building a shelter.
The_DarthMoogle Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 What...? How? That's the only way to survive by building a shelter. You haven't played this, have you.
miniboxer Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Adventure mode... I can't think of a single decent adventure map that involved not being able to place or break anything. Parkour doesn't count. That ran out of originality months ago. it would be good for puzzle maps, like It's Better Together, cause i am pretty sure that involves not placing or breaking anything. also makes it so you can't cheat.
Roondak Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Do mobs set these off? I'm guessing they do, but I have a cool idea... Mobs do indeed set them off.
