Or you mine out the entire nether. I reckon I'm about 1.9% done after a couple of weeks.

Idea! Aha! Please read.
The_DarthMoogle replied to kennysmith1234's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
You misunderstand the premise of Technic. It's nothing to do with it's name, it's merely a celebration of the best of the mods out there. I want EE3 so badly. Flying's cool, but 'sit in sunshine for epic diamonds' is not my MO. -
The 12:30 Zerg train to Allatum is delayed due to Skyguards on the track. What you are witnessing here right now is my feeble attempt to sum up what is shaping to be the only game you will ever need to play, if you are like me and only play one MMO at a time. For those of you not in the know, Planetside 2 is 100% an MMOFPS. Yup. I'll tell you why this is the best kind of FPS. Firstly, the scale. The beta currently lets up to 380 gajazmillion players play one one continent, by the name of Indar. It's sorta a Mojave desert looking deal, with a bit of greenery to frolic about in. It's also bloody enormous. It's made up of around 20 capturable bases, the smallest ones being the size of a large Call of Duty map. No joke. Now, 380 gadbirrion players is a bit of an overstatement. By the time the game rolls out in Christmas, the continental cap will be 2000. Three continents will mean 6000 per server. That's cool no matter how you look at it. Secondly, the core infantry gameplay. It's beautiful. The weapons are customisable, and we are promised a pretty large selection of them on launch, for each of the six classes - Light Assault, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, Heavy Assault, and MAX. Each class is highly specialised for each role, and an infantry squad is screwed without the inclusion of all of them. Now, MAXs if you were wondering, are hulking frames capable of dual-wielding instruments of megadeath. You know, GMGs, Miniguns, Gauss Shotguns, but they're pretty slow, and rely on engineers to move up the battlefield. Bullets are physical objects in the world, so aim centre of mass and lead your moving targets. The movement and shooting is incredibly fluid even in bug-busting beta stage and is more comparable to ArmA or Battlefield than the more arcadey style of shooting. Thirdly, vehicular gameplay is fluid, dynamic, and an utter nightmare for commanders, both to control and combat. It's no rare thing to see twenty tanks rolling past you, and even less to see twenty enemy aircraft coming to say hello. They drive much like you would expect from playing Battlefield games, and are very nearly completely balanced (See reference to Skyguard). Both them and infantry are totally useless without each other, making for the ultimate combined arms theatre of war. Fourth, this game is beautiful. The update of graphics is astonishing, and the fact that hundreds of players, thousands of explosions, and millions of bullets are bouncing across your screen should put other triple-A titles to absolute shame. This game is pure art. Just wait till it's night time and prepare to permajizz. Finally, the game itself and the attitude of it's players. In this game, 'self' means bugger all. You simply can't just grab a gun and go. You'll get sniped, run over and bump into MAXs more times than you've had hot meals. So get a microphone and team up. Yes that's right, you will actually be expected to team up with random strangers. You can jump into another squad and wait for orders, or grab a couple of loners and lead the charge yourself. Build a friends list, rally behind an organised Outfit and come up with the ultimate strategy. Gone are the days of suggesting 'we cap B' and getting told to stick sharp objects in uncomfortable places. The least you'll get is constructive criticism as to why capping B would suck eggs. Gone are the griefers, gone are the mic spammers. All hail the New Conglomerate. Freedom! EDIT : I have two keys available on a first-come-first-served-as-long-as-you-promise-not-to-be-vanu basis. Massage me for info. Keys have now been consumed entirely.

Nope, I pretty much said I would only come back to wreck stuff, did you not read?
-
I'm just going to clarify, I said wireless redstone was unadvisable because I planned to have an electronic warfare suite on my airship. (Interestingly not using any jammers at all) Blobture's battleship that they were building before they got griefed would have been screwed over by me anyway.

I remember GTA 3 as a kid a lot actually. But I digress, TH:UG was actually what probably made gaming a regular thing for me.
-
I'm going to wade back in and put my argument here again. I'm totally cool with people playing the game how they want. It's just so many people are incapable of using the other mods like RedPower and ComputerCraft simply because they have no need to. Removing it altogether would be over reacting for sure.

Status Update for the Technic Crowd!
The_DarthMoogle replied to Frizzil's topic in Hack/Mine Discussion
It's definitely 'shone'. Don't worry, I read the rest though Thank you ever so much for your time, and I highly anticipate this big release -
Well, that's utterly endearing to see that you think you're so special, but that's not how we tend to operate here. Now, I wouldn't be such a grumpy old fart if you'd actually gone into a lengthy description of your tastes, interests, hobbies, what servers you play on... Plus this forum gets around 485ubergazillion new users a day. And introduction section would just be a waste of virtual paper. But that's not for me to judge. Welcome to the forum. We have a warped sense of humour. Enjoy it. Or don't.

Good Day fellow M-Tech employees. Now, it's been a long while since I've given any direction whatsoever, and that's because I'm busy killing everyone on Planetside 2. So therefore I leave M-Tech in the capable hands of... whoever. Provided that they change the name of the corporation. I may return, but only to wreck shit. Thank you.
-
That's nice, I have a pet rabbit. COME ON, SERIOUSLY? For one, this is the wrong place. But you made zero effort to make your case as to why this mod should be included. None at all.
-
Thanks for your unwavering support in this matter.
-
I personally cannot wait until Eloraam gives frames rotational functionality. Although something like the Zeppelin mod is astonishingly cool, there's nothing more frustrating, but ultimately satisfying than building a RedPower airship.
-
Now, go and find 12 more and you can have your avatar back.
-
Have you put them in the right section? Or have you been enough of an arse that the Mods look at you and just go 'nope.' :D
-
All I can say is welcome to the Keller Club. The most exclusive club in the world.
-
You see, it's this 'advanced physics' you speak of that worries me. I don't think you understand how shit convoluted minecraft is coded.
-
Now that's going to be a gigantic pain in the arse. The most you could do is have the whole tower act like gravel once hit (or when its HPs expire), and the blocks would become drops once they hit the floor.

Let's talk about how great Planetside 2 is going to be
The_DarthMoogle replied to sct's topic in The Arcade
So, I'm tired of waiting. So I went and bought the Alpha Squad package, and I seriously recommend checking this out. Not only do you instantly get access to the beta for $40, you get the same value in station cash. You also get SIX MONTHS of XP boost, a whole dedicated camo set, and six weapon unlocks. This was not a difficult choice for someone who rarely plays more than two games at a time. (Not including Tekkit) -
Minecolony is an excellent mod based on the 'Anno' series of games. It's dead fun, and there's supercool updates on the horizon, I'm sure.
-
huh. If a fresh install doesn't work. Then ask the server owner to delete your player data. That will get you out of the problem area.

Not sure if I should use Technic Pack Anymore
The_DarthMoogle replied to inittowinitall's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I'm gonna pop back in and bet $20 it's Norton. EDIT : Microsoft? Jesus, man. Well look, as Jay? said, you can have a look yourself. Everything goes straight to the minecraft lot. The launcher itself is just an extension of Minecraft's vanilla launcher, correct me if I'm wrong though. -

The_DarthMoogle replied to inittowinitall's topic in Off Topic Discussion
For one, the Technic pack is not the pinnacle of minecraft modding. That's not to say work hasn't gone into it though For two, the launcher is derived from the Spout launcher. It will not harvest your details in any way. Your details cannot be accessed by any member of the Technic team - all traffic is handled through minecraft.net's own servers. -
Well, let's do Jay?'s mental checklist, shall we? Is Jay? : 1. A nasty shouty person? 2. A bigot of worrying proportions? 3. Targeting social groups with little experience with them? 4. Insane? 5. Living in the wrong era? 6. A moderator in a forum containing a plethora of all the problems above? You need not worry about contradicting yourself here. :D
