  1. Did you download Tekkit from the official website? Try removing Nether Ores and try again then report what happens.
  2. This is exactly what happened when I ran my first server back in the days of Tekkit 2.1. First three days, 20/20 players during peak times with EE on. After I realized how bad EE was (frankly I was a Tekkit noob) I disabled it. After that it was 3/20 during peak, with zero players most of the day. I shut that server down.
  3. I've managed to fix all server-side issues on my server thanks to this thread, but my players keep complaining about the missing IC2 recipes and I keep getting a lot of failed connection attempts from 3.1.2 clients. Is there talk about reverting everything to 3.1.2, pushing 3.1.3 to recommended, or perhaps releasing a 3.1.4? Or does this information not get leaked? I apologize beforehand if this is one of the many taboo subjects of this forum. I am not asking for an ETA.
  4. VideoBoy has shut down his server due to a low player count, however he has kindly offered to point his domain to my new server (click). The map radius on my server is 8192 (16km² in the overworld and 4km² in the nether). My server (Rekkit) is similar to Scandic in many ways. Scandic was the first server that fit my needs so my server is very similar to Scandic. Check it out! My server is 3.1.3, by the way
  5. I guess I'll give you a second chance since I seem to have lost the logs and none of my mods can remember exactly what happened. I'll be keeping a close eye, though. I'll have to restart the server to unban you because of a plugin issue, but it shouldn't be long.
  6. Can someone explain this Technic/Tekkit merger? I understand the reasoning behind it (1.3 hybrid server) but will there be a point where all current Tekkit servers can safely switch to Technic instead of being stuck at 1.2.5? Or is Technic only for LAN games?
  7. World Anchors have been unbanned due to the various bugs in Immibis dimensional anchors. However, to keep their usage to a minimum, they can only be obtained at spawn at the cost of eight tungsten. Happy mining! Neither do I. I'm sorry, I can't take the risk. Hackers usually go around in packs, and when one person in a group has a hacking client, the others usually do as well.
  8. I remember your name. One of your friends got banned for admitting xray but I don't know what happened after. Do you remember who banned you or any other details so I can discuss it with my moderators, maybe refresh our minds?
  9. To the people who submitted these fixes (Jelato Foot, Tekkitopotamus, etc.) - thanks for listing those helpful fixes. My Tekkit server is finally up running the latest version and I could not have done it without your help. Thank you very much.
  10. You're hilarious. Assuming you're serious (which I hope you're not), even if Technic or Minecraft ceased to exist you would find something else to waste your life away in. Possible candidates are WoW, Eve Online, or maybe even Runescape. I used to be like that guy in the picture so I know what it feels like. I'm thankful I discovered Minecraft AFTER I started dieting and working out, otherwise I'd still be like that.
  11. ===================================================== THIS SERVER WAS SHUT DOWN. Check my last post in this thread for more info. Tekkit Forum Moderators: it would be great if you could keep this thread up for a week or two so people know what's going on. ===================================================== IP: rekkit.noip.us:25573 Web: http://rekkit.noip.us/tekkit Welcome to Rekkit, a rebalanced Tekkit server! Tekkit is an amazing combination of mods, but it lacks balance when it comes to survival/PvP servers. The priority of Rekkit is to bring back the fun and challenge by removing anything that involves transmutation, aka 'free stuff', as well as removing or limiting items that create balance problems with other items. Rekkit strives to have a big emphasis on PvP and warfare, therefore killing, stealing, and most kinds of griefing are not only allowed but encouraged. Rekkit is an overhaul of an existing server. I sat down with some of the regular players and we decided that the server needed change, and we spent a lot of time tuning and balancing everything together to the best of our ability. The current map went online on November 23, 2012. I personally don't like map resets, and I've only done it once in my vanilla server which has been up for longer than a year, and then once today in my Tekkit server. Both times were to reflect major changes in gameplay and economy. You can expect this map to last several months. This is a public 24/7 server running on a reliable VPS in Seattle, WA, U.S.A. I've been hosting two servers on this VPS for months and there have been no major lag problems so you can expect smooth gameplay. 1) REASONS TO PLAY ON REKKIT: You've played 'everything enabled' servers and you're tired of having the majority of players dig straight to collector flowers and diamond block houses and completely disregarding every other mod in the pack. You've played on 'non-EE' servers that still allow UU matter and scrapbox factories which achieve the same transmutation effect as EE collectors (only with a longer setup time). You're tired of seeing people give away expensive items at the cost of dirt, and you desire a real economy where high-end items have high-end value. You always wished you had a reason to bother with oil rigs other than "it's just fun". You hate it when someone griefs you and you want revenge but they live so far away that it would take years to find their base. Yes, we have a border. You hate abusive staff. Our staff is limited to one admin and and a few carefully chosen moderators with only kick/ban/mute and strict guidelines for their usage. The owner has over one year of experience as a Minecraft server host and over half a year of experience running a Tekkit server. No 12 year olds in charge. 2) SERVER RULES: NO HACKING NO BYPASSING TOWN PROTECTION OR FORCEFIELDS No lava molding in or near town land (the water+lava+water+lava+water+lava trick) No griefing town land with frames or block breakers No "forcefield buster" frame ships, even in the wilderness No overlapping your forcefield with someone else's forcefield, even in the wilderness [*]NO SPAWN KILLING [*]NO COMBAT LOGGING [*]NO SPAMMING [*]DON'T GIVE THE OWNER A HARD TIME Rules #1 and #2 are worthy of perma ban. Rule #3 is temp ban of up to two weeks depending on availability and credibility of proof, with perma ban on subsequent offenses. Rules #4 and #5 are dealt with mutes and kicks. This is a free-for-all PvP server so griefing is allowed by any means as long as you stay away from the clever methods listed under rule #2, all of which require careful planning/execution and are almost impossible to do by accident. Anything not in the rules should be considered allowed, but don't abuse this leniency. Any player who constantly strives to cross the limits, find loopholes in the rules, or try piss the staff off by pointing out exploitable flaws for everyone to see will be given a warning and then banned. Don't become more trouble than you're worth. 3) BANNED MODS: Equivalent Exchange (reason: OP and transmutation) 4) BANNED ITEMS: Quantum Suit Armor* (reason: OP) Nano Saber* (reason: OP) Electric Jetpack (reason: OP - use regular jetpacks instead) UU Matter (reason: transmutation) Mass Fabricator (reason: useless with UUM banned) Scrap Box (reason:transmutation) Energy Link (reason: devalues BuildCraft engines and oil) Oil Fabricator (reason: free energy loophole) Lava Fabricator (reason: easy obsidian) Teleport Tether (reason: broken in Tekkit) Block Cutter Upgrade** (reason: anti-Towny) Cannon** (reason: anti-Towny) Triangulator** (reason: crashes the server) Retrievulator** (reason: this dupe bug) * The nano saber and the quantum chestplate may or may not be enabled in the distant future, for a very high price, depending on how many people do and don't want it. ** Items marked with two stars are banned because of technical issues instead of philosophical reasons, and will be enabled if and when the technical issue involving them is resolved. More items may be banned if they are found to disregard Towny protections or other severe safety concerns. 5) PLUGINS: COOL: Towny - create a town, declare war on other towns, all that fun stuff. Towns have a maximum of 2 chunks per player, but if you join a nation your town gets 100 extra chunks. This is done to encourage joining nations. If you join a nation (even by yourself) then you can virtually claim limitless amounts of land, but you are open to being declared war upon. COOL: BookWorm - enables writing on books COOL: Gringotts - physical currency system using Industrial Credits COOL: PickBoat - boats behave like minecarts in that they don't break apart when hit CampFire - brand new players get 30 minutes of PvP protection Essentials - for basic commands like /home, /spawn, /tpa NoLagg - don't worry about your quarries overflowing. This has got you covered! NoobKit - brand new players get a kit of basic tools and food SofterLandings - no more insta-death on jetpack landing (not sure if needed as of latest Tekkit version, but it's there just in case) WeatherRestrictions - makes it rain less often WorldBorder - limits the world to prevent people from hiding at extreme distances 6) OTHER GAMEPLAY MODIFICATIONS: COOL: The world is limited to a radius of 8192 and the nether ratio is set to 1:4. That means: [*]COOL: The End world resets itself eight hours after the dragon dies. So, there will be a constant struggle to control the three Strongholds, as well as epic player-vs-player-vs-dragon battles! [*]Dimensional Anchor limit is set to 8 per player to reduce lag [*]Nuclear explosion radius capped to 5x the power of TNT (roughly half of the default) [*]Water Strainers nerfed to 1EU/t (in line with water mills) [*]Iron Golems drop nothing (reason: vanilla dupe exploit) [*]Disabled boat placement on land (reason: clipping exploit and trolling potential) [*]Ender Pearl teleporting disabled (reason: clipping exploit) [*]The two alternate IC2 recipes (tin buckets and bronze rails) are disabled (reason: transmutation exploit) [*]Burning of scrap in generators is disabled (reason: OP when paired with block breakers) [*]Industrial Credits cannot be crafted because they are special server currency. Instead, buy them at spawn using your rare items. [*]World Anchors can't be crafted and can only be bought at spawn at the cost of eight tungsten, to avoid lag. non-renewable resources are literally non-renewable and therefore more valuable hermits are still hard to find, but not virtually impossible to find as someone who lives one thousand kilometers away in the overworld, you can travel from -8191 to +8192 on each axis in the Nether, you can travel from -2047 to +2048 on each axis the overworld is 16km², roughly 13½ times as big as New York City 7) PICTURES Thank you for visiting!
  12. I'm planning to ban world anchors on my server and force players to use the limited dimensional anchor. However, one of the people that's helping me balance the server has told me that dimensional anchors do not work as well. According to him, all machines work fine inside an anchored chunk, but certain vanilla things don't, such as water flow (so a pump will drain a safe 5x5 pool while inside the anchor because water does not regenerate... which means boom your combustion engine while you're off exploring). Can anyone else confirm this?
  13. I never got any sort of automatic restart to work. The plugin 'SmartRestart' only shuts down the server, and a cron job to shutdown and then restart fails at the restarting part. I think it's something related to Linux permissions but... meh.
  14. Vanilla server crashed 3 times due to low memory, Tekkit server crashed twice. Hmm. I was actually excited, heh. It could have something to do with me running two servers on a tiny 4GB of RAM, but my vanilla server usually lasts 4 to 5 days without a restart. Thanks anyways, sir, a man still needs hope every now and then.
  15. If you have any Nuclear Control items, then you need to remove every one of them from your map before you update. Check out this thread for info.
  16. Well, seeing how my server keeps crashing because of low memory (BOTH of them), I decided to give this a shot. I'm running this script on both a vanilla server and a Tekkit server. I'll report if/when they both burn to the ground. Or at the end of the day if they don't. :)
  17. SSE is 1999 technology, hehe. Your command line adds SSE3 (2004). Here's the command line you posted for matted for use on an actual script. I'm not sure I want to mess with my public server atm but someone else might want to: -Xincgc -server -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:CMSFullGCsBeforeCompaction=1 -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=2048 -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -Xnoclassgc -oss4M -ss4M -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=60 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:UseSSE=3 -XX:+UseCMSCompactAtFullCollection -XX:ParallelGCThreads=4 -XX:+AggressiveOpts EDIT: I've read somewhere before that you should set ParallelGCThreads to twice the amount of cores you have, but like you, I'm not a pro at this so I can't explain why.
  18. Funny thing is it's not even a recommended build. It's just "latest". I don't know what their logic was here. It shows up as a normal client update and server download on the website is for 3.1.3. I'm not hating on the Tekkit team. How could I? They literally gave my life a purpose (foreveralone.jpg). I won't lose a bit of respect for them if they dun goofed this once by accidentally sitting on the Release to Public button, but I'd sure like to know if there's a reason for this.
  19. I have 500GB on my VPS fully dedicated to Minecraft, so disk space isn't a problem. Mystcraft in Multiplayer? *goosebumps* I've use WorldBorder before. Hmm. 10k radius sounds like a good compromise between border and no border. I used to live that far away; it was a 2 minute train ride from spawn via nether. Well, it does change that. At 2k radius border it will be much easier to grief, and like I said, griefing should be allowed. It's just some people... They take it to the next level and spend all their time torturing one player by whatever means they can. In such case, the player either beats the troll or moves away. The border would take that second option away.
  20. Me and some friends are working to overhaul and re-balance my Tekkit server. Our goal is to remove everything that allows transmuting (EE, UUM, scrapbox, etc.) and remove some OP items such as energy links (devalues BC engines and oil) and quantum suit. We've got most of the details taken care of, but we're stuck deciding whether or not we should get a map border. Pros: encourages PvP by not having all of the advanced/fightable players immediately set a goal to travel 100 kilometers before settling on a permanent base Cons: all the non-renewable resources will run out eventually, meaning after a few months there will be no place to mine without running out into someone else's branches, and a few months after that there will be no more diamonds or uranium the shorter the radius the easier it will be for griefers to find people's bases. We have Towny installed, however we don't want to put too much manual regulation on griefing besides water+lava cobble volcanoes and forcefield-buster frame contraptions. I was happy to see that nukes are fixed in 3.1.3 and now respect claimed land, by the way. I personally am leaning towards no border, but it does get boring after a while if everyone worth raiding lives super far away from each other. Yet they couldn't become 'worth raiding' without given appropriate time to stock up on resources and machinery to begin with... Oh what to do, what to do... What are your thoughts?
  21. Ewwwww, EE everywhere...
  22. I just tried using remote sensors on a blank map with 3.1.3, no problems. I've been thinking of a map reset anyways...
  23. So, let me get this straight - does this need to be done on all servers or only servers with an existing world?
  24. One could still copy the stuff from appdata/.techniclauncher/tekkit into appdata/.minecraft, no?
  25. This was possible only in an old version of Technic. It was never in Tekkit nor is it in the current version of Technic. Which is a shame. Guess we'll have to wait for vanilla item frames.
