  1. Oh yeah, don't get me wrong - by the time you can make this setup it very likely won't be an upgrade (mooshroom trophy drop is 1/1000 chance by default), but if you're space limited (you play PvP on a factions server and it needs to be in a chunk to be safe, you're in a moonbase and you want to have it inside for some reason, you screwed up your house and only have a small room available etc.) or time limited (you want to get a full system set up on a planet/moon before you run out of air, you're travelling and setting up mini-labs for genetics or processing all over the place). I wouldn't call it the 'best' overall, but it's probably the best generator I've seen that fits in that space (or can be built that fast). There are easier methods that take more time to build - a treefarm powering combustion engines for example. There are more powerful methods that take more time and space - even a treefarm version of this is more efficient and cheaper while being larger and more complicated. There are more portable methods that don't stand alone - tesseracts can have power flowing in the instant you arrive at a destination if you don't care about it actually being made on location. Also.. it moos like crazy. I'd probably want a switch on the bottom of that activator (even though that's making it 3x3x5) simply to shut that up after a while
  2. Ha, yeah - it's been modified to be a lot more tolerant of shape now, so that'll be it. There is a little leeway and you can have it on a stand, the only blocks that are actually important are these obsidian blocks, I just wanted to make sure you had the shape right first; ██ = Obsidian Block ░░ = Air ▓▓ = The Ground (not featured in this diagram) <- - 4B- -> ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ██ ██ ░░ ░░ ^ ░░ ██ ░░ ░░ ██ ░░ | ░░ ██ ░░ ░░ ██ ░░ 5B ░░ ██ ░░ ░░ ██ ░░ | ░░ ░░ ██ ██ ░░ ░░ v ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ Glad you got it sorted
  3. EAS, I've done some screenshots to help explain the size a bit better; That's a generator that provides 360RF/tick that fits in 5x3x2 - less than 2 solar panels. I've added a nullifier on a side to get rid of the sludge (it used to slow the machines down if they filled up with sludge, dunno if that's the case) but on mars/moon you could use sludge boilers to get all sorts of resources that are otherwise not available there too if you wanted (useful if you wanted to actually move there for some reason). For a big base sure - reactant dynamos are usually what I use (with blaze spawners as they're easy to get and blaze powder is a great reactant) but even the spawning chamber of the design you're talking about would fit 2 of these.
  4. This shape isn't working with a normal flint and steel? It still should with most types of obsidian (not sure about snakebody/snakehead as they're a little special I'd have to test, but the rest should be fine). ██ = Obsidian Block ░░ = Air ▓▓ = The Ground <- - 4B- -> ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ░░ ██ ██ ██ ██ ░░ ^ ░░ ██ ░░ ░░ ██ ░░ | ░░ ██ ░░ ░░ ██ ░░ 5B ░░ ██ ░░ ░░ ██ ░░ | ░░ ██ ██ ██ ██ ░░ v ▓▓ ▓▓ ▓▓ ▓▓ ▓▓ ▓▓ If you're using an enhanced portal then any shape is fine but it's not for visiting places for the first time - you need dimensional upgrades on every portal and a network set the same on both ends (so you need the other end to exist first) before you can make them, and you need a special flint and steel (its the yellowish version). Do you have a picture?
  5. You think that's weird - sometimes when I'm looking for the solution to something I find it here using google... And it was from me. :S (woooo tech support ghost story)
  6. EAS - do you see how many blocks this takes? This is a nicely portable and compact system that would only take a few minutes to set up, you could have it in a side-room on a mars base within 10 minutes of getting there. It's also a useful use for a trophy
  7. You've clicked and changed the GUI key from H to left click most likely, and you can hide sections while customising it so you've probably done that too. This is the screen you need; Edit: To get the missing options back on the side, click "Reset Side?" on that window too.
  8. Well spotted, glad you got it sorted For future reference with people readhing through, the hopper cares which block you attach it to - hold shift when you right click to make it attach to the machine rather than another block (the wooden planks block below in this picture). Don't forget you can do this with a smeltery controller too which I find quite convenient, and you can put a chest on top of the hopper for more room (the hopper will automatically fill itself from the chest if there's one above). The shader thing can happen with shader mods in general, without knowing what you're using I wouldn't be able to troubleshoot it but what's happening there looks like a bug in how it's handling specular highlights (this will be a shader bug, it probably tries to generate maps from the texture sheet and that's where it looks like it's failing, getting a blank white image to blend for 'reflections'/'shinyness' rather than the texured one). Edit: Not sure if this thread was totally the right place to post as I don't see people with this problem often, but I don't think there's any harm in it - this whole section of the forum is for this kind of question and it's just generally the technical stuff (people with faulty java/mod installations) that I see getting asked by mods or players to go elsewhere (the Tracker specifically, because that's specifically what that section is for ). Don't take the reactions on the last page here as being a typical example of moderator interaction with everybody - that guy was ignoring half of what everyone was saying at every turn so he got treated 'special' . Edit 2: Forgive my manners, I nearly forgot: Welcome to the forums!
  9. Really? Definitely in 10.0.11a? Can you post up a link to a log?
  10. What a world we live in now. We live in a time when people complain about not being able to play games on their school computer - that they're allowed to take home! I'd be interested to know how many people here went to a school that would lend them a calculator they'd take home, or even a pen! What awesome school is this?
  11. Slick, try removing the MCore plugin to test. (Multiverse) zF4, some plugins don't work properly with mods (mcMMO comes to mind) so without knowing what you're running I can't offer you much help.
  12. Are you playing on another players singleplayer world where they're using "open to LAN"? I've seen that there, but nowhere else so far.
  13. Sure that's true - but if you've got 100 regulars and say 5-30 on at any given time, that kind of chunkloader increases the load to be equivalent of 50+ players all the time if everybody has one (worse if they're exploring, as one person can have an area loaded and load an area around themselves). A poppet shelf each would increase the server load by the equivalent of something like 4 extra players (more is obviously worse, but the less chunks loaded in general the better). Do you see the issue there now? It only matters much if there's a lot of people with a lot of always on chunks - a few here and there or if most players don't bother means it's not such a big deal. It does also means that if a player leaves your server they keep eating up resources anyway (even if they never come back they're using resources other players can't), which isn't great. The MFR chunkloader uses a lot of power, so it limits its use by being so expensive to run most players won't bother loading too many chunks. The poppet shelf uses inconvenient components, so again many players won't bother and just get other people giving/trading for them (after which they'll lay out that chunk carefully rather than load too many). The hoppers are dirt cheap and available to everyone who knew about them in vanilla, but again not much of an issue unless people are loading a lot. A 'entity-less' chunk uses less processing power than a 'normal' loaded chunk, but if we're generous and say it's half a 'normal' chunk's usage then we're still talking about 25 times a poppet shelf's resources to load that centre chunk (assuming the entities in the centre chunk are minimal - entities can soak up a bunch of their own resources and even compete with the chunks if you have enough of them).
  14. A long time ago there were issues with the crafting pipes which could cause all kinds of headaches, server crashes among them, but I haven't tried recently - that's where I'd suggest you look if you wanted to test it (this was a lot of versions ago but it's the only thing I can think of that caused that kind of problem - if they're fine now you should be good).
  15. OK, the good news is at least that points to wherever you're putting those new files not being the place it's reading from (otherwise that outcome should be impossible). You can test for certain by removing that world on the new machine - if it's the wrong location you will still be able to load that world from within minecraft, so do that first to be certain (I think what you've overwritten was a previous attempt to copy it across). Now, the cog on the left of the launcher (by the B-Team menu icon) - what directory did that indicate?
  16. The issue with AM2 is that it takes away from the sciency feel of the game - with witchery at least it feels like you're building up items mostly, making potions and that kind of thing with only a little bit of magic (infusions). AM2 would be an indispensable mod if it was in, you just wouldn't be able to compete with other players if you didn't use it - that limits the options for most people rather than adding to them as you'd have less available time once you'd worked on the 'must do' mods. It integrates nicely with witchery from a technical standpoint, but makes a bunch of witchery options pointless from a gameplay perspective (you can resist the damage from infusions with just ars magica magic resistance for example). I'm not sure it'd be worth bothering with witchery at all if AM2 was in (at the moment it's debatable, usually it's something you'll do if you're interested or have extra time). The balancing in this modpack is fascinating - it's more balanced as time spent by player against the fun of what they're working on rather than against the actual efficacy of the thing they're working on (it feels well balanced when you look at it like that).
  17. I'd forgotten about that - that was still correct last I looked, it's just much easier to get an entity chunk with a poppet shelf (and less of a big blip on the map with things like opis to attract OPs).
  18. You're running the wrong java version, you need 1.7 JDK (from the oracle site) not the one from apples autoupdater (1.6). Also note don't get 1.8 yet either, there are issues with it and MacOS especially with a quite few mods.
  19. That's right, yeah - there's no choice other than that at the moment.
  20. It should work fine, yeah - it is possible to pick a different install location in the launcher so double-check that's not the case (the cog by the attack of the b-team logo on the left). Failing that, make a world on the new computer with the exact same name then copy over your world on top of it, that way you can be sure it's the same folder (as it'll make a matching one when you make that world in game). Edit: Clarity
  21. MCPC+ makes it possible to use bukkit plugins on an otherwise standard ATB server, yes.
  22. Both of these cases can be fixed by correcting the problem that's causing them. I'm sorry that's such a nebulous response, but with the amount of info you guys are giving to work with there's not much else I can say. If you look in my signature you'll find links on how to get logs, how to post logs, and the bug tracker where this kind of question should get posted. Those logfiles should show what's causing the problem, whatever it is.
  23. For reference, MCPC+ is essentially a version of bukkit that's capable of running mods (so it can use both the mods the B-Team has by default and normal bukkit plugins). If you switch to craftbukkit the mods won't behave, without bukkit at all plugins won't behave, so MCPC+ is usually what people use.
  24. I'm surprised it's a big problem for people getting their stuff back - the unarmed skeleton should be the weakest offensive mob in the game (same health as the skeleton, same behaviour as the zombie so effectively a lower health, lower damage zombie). If there's a bunch of skeletons turning it into a slideshow or something nastier (several big heatscar spiders or something) then I could see how it might cause an issue for an unarmed and unarmored player though. I guess there's a legitimate use for things that break the area protection after all
  25. Automated sure, but it's also a fairly lategame (you need to be able to get wither stars) solution, and it's more of a time saver/convenience/curiosity at that point than really that useful. Still cool though. Or... You use it in reverse and have it fill empty buckets with lava from a tank in the nether you filled up earlier? What could you do with an effectively unending source of lava buckets? (or actually unending if you've got lava fabs on the other end with enough power generation)
