this is the most hilarious attempt to justify the utter tedium and self-flagellation that is gregtech that I've seen. "tekkit players are too stupid to appreciate it". amazing. because no one who hasn't played tekkit is unaware of configs or simply doesn't want to be bothered with futzing with them to make the mod enjoyable. yep. must be that cheaty EE2!

it's arbitrary for the most part. whoever kaker, cheap, and the rest of the team think "won" gets the belt. what happens to the loser is also pretty much a case by case basis

what are you getting at? now you're trying to be a PR consultant? worried about the tekkit brand all of a sudden? please. all I see is vague notions that we should "do something" and the only reason being "for the children", essentially. the game doesn't get a bad rep from terrible server admins. terrible servers get a bad rep. even if tekkit does get some small number of people who stop playing it because of a single bad experience on a public server, so what? how is that different than anything else? you are grasping at straws. that's all well and good, you've already shown great ability to dismiss those who disagree or question you out of hand. I am only informing you of the reality of the situation. you can ignore me but reality will eventually bite you squarely in the ass. again. edit: you're right, maybe you should remove yourself and take the first step to a cure? double edit: also to reiterate, donations are totally a server specific thing. also those donations are going towards the server, not tekkit, not technic, not anyone on these forums. that money is being solicited by and goes directly to the server owner usually, to be used for whatever he uses it for. there's no official donations features in tekkit and you can't even donate directly to the pack. our donations page just links to the mod authors.

uhh, I only mentioned my job to reinforce the point that I solve problems. I don't give a damn what your job is. you can take your insecurities and shove them, the only one making a comparison is you. let me try and explain this to you in a way you will hopefully understand: we have no control over any tekkit servers. it is not splitting hairs, it is the gospel truth. tekkit is just a name for a mod pack for a digital lego game. we do not run the servers, and have no control over the people who do. the only things we regulate are the format of server advertisement posts on the forums here. outside of that we have no way of ensuring any policies are in place or obeyed. each one is setup and administered by independent people who have no connection to the technic team who packaged the mods together, or even the forum moderators you are increasingly being upset with. this is not some legal technicality of a defense. we. do. not. run. those. servers. we never will, either. the next kid on that same server will cry too, so will the next. if you want to be all "think of the children!" I suggest you try running for political office, at least if you want it to work anyway. I can appreciate that you don't like bad stuff happening to your kids, but you are going about fixing it in completely the wrong way. you need to put your money(irony) where you mouth is. stop posting here and either find or create a new server that doesn't allow griefing, and start over on that server, or track down the admin of the server they're on now and give HIM your "donators made my offspring leak and annoy me, also money is evil" spiel. I'm not telling you this to be "defensive", I'm telling you this to inform you as to how things work. you clearly do not understand the concept of how servers are created or run, nor do you grasp how tekkit relates to minecraft. ironically, perhaps you should ask your kids how it works since I would bet they might know better than you appear to. that is, if you haven't drowned in the flood of their tears by then.

here is my little refinery operation: granted, this is using railcraft tanks, which are not in tekkit lite normally. BC tanks could just as easily be used instead. the combustion engines I used initially are no longer running because I moved all my BC power production to a central location, but you can see how it was setup initially. the engines are cooled with water from an aqueous accumulator just under them. initially I used the oil to run them until I got enough fuel, then I ran them on fuel and they practically filled the 576 bucket tank on 4 buckets of fuel each. the accumulator really takes the hassle out of supplying them with water.

here is what I am doing: I am solving your problem. solving problems is what I do, that is why I work in IT, solving computer problems. I don't agree with your overall premise in the slightest and rather detest it, however that is not relevant to the problem I, and everyone else in this thread, just solved for you. what you're complaining about are not aspects of the game, minecraft, or the mods in tekkit. they are aspects of human nature. good luck removing or changing those.

so what is your main point? the server your kids are on has a bad donator policy? obviously not what you're really getting at. what you're really getting at is some ridiculous "money is the devil" and "99%" type stuff. here's the real thing though: your kids' server has terrible admins that don't handle donators properly. that's all there is to it. my, and cheap's, responses moved on past that because it's pretty damn open and shut not to mention obvious. change servers to one that aligns more with your view on donations. period, the end. additionally, complaining here about how your kids' server is run is a waste of time. how about you complain to the staff that run that server instead, assuming you haven't already? you know, the ones that could actually DO something about the situation? yeah, talk to those guys.

why are you posting about this here? sounds like your kids picked a shitty server with terrible admins. maybe you guys should find another one, one without wacky donator policies or griefing allowed (coreprotect, worldguard, whatever is hip for that nowadays). it sounds like you think the people who can do something about it are the people who create tekkit, which is absolutely not the case. your complaint is with human nature and the way things go when children attempt to run things without any kind of guidance (many server admins are, in fact, children or at least act like it). so again, find a better server. edit: or create your own server (doesn't even have to be private if you want). all criticism is most certainly not good, this criticism is completely useless and misplaced. I feel rather sad that you feel, as their father, this is the appropriate response to random idiots griefing your kids on a minecraft server. but hey, not my kids and all that so whatever.

yeah, believe me I have more than enough time to ban any accounts you post with until you run out of will to register email accounts. it's way faster and easier for me to ban you than it is for you to reregister.

I'm amused that you consider a 12 minute video on copy/pasting files and resolving block ID conflicts that features you doing it wrong on camera and tons of rambling less confusing than the original custom zips tutorial.

there are a few problems with your method. -does not work for any mod that is not in a technic pack. go ahead, try and install thaumcraft 3 like this. you can't because you need to go download it first. -terrible for servers. good luck getting people to manually copy files around or edit config files just to play on your server. not to mention the whole can't use mods not in other technic packs thing. -it's just the manual mod installation method. this is essentially how you had to do things before custom zips existed, with the added step of downloading the mods you wanted that weren't in another pack (or not up to date). this isn't revolutionary or new. now, manually installing mods is totally a valid thing to do for playing single player, etc.. no reason to bother with custom zips in that case because you'd have to install them manually anyway to get the configs right in the first place. I think people saw the whole "custom zip" thing and thought it was the only way to add things to the packs, even though you could add things to them all along if you wanted like this. if that is really what people are doing, using custom zips to install mods for playing single player, then I'm not surprised they can't get them to work to be honest.

really? please do enlighten me because I am just dying to know what I missed so I can more thoroughly laugh about this. if there really was something other than what I pointed out, I'm impressed that you actually went and did something about it yourself instead of complaining that it doesn't work. however, I'm such a self-confident prick that I don't think there was anything else wrong.
