obviously doable then. dunno how likely it is unless someone submits a PR for it in the new launcher
-
basically an "exit to launcher" button on the main menu? I don't know how doable that is with the way the mods work.
-
it was my understanding that it should redownload the custom zip if it gets updated. from what you're saying it sounds like that isn't happening. I will try and point someone who actually knows what's up with the launcher code over here. edit: talked to olloth, it does not auto download the custom zip if it's updated and that is intended behavior.

These Mod's - clash with/work with - Tekkit-Lite
freakachu replied to spoungecake's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
this is almost entirely useless in terms of information that might help someone pinpoint the issue for you. you literally wasted however much time it took you to type that out completely. what you have said is "I have a problem. can someone fix it?" and nothing more. if you want your problem solved, or at least want someone to try, a) don't post it in an unrelated thread and provide useful hard info. this means logs above all else. version info is nice, but without error logs it means nothing. help us help you. or you could just complain in random threads about it until you get tired of it not working and give up. your choice. -
you've got something in your custom zip field that isn't a URL. make sure it's empty.

What Server Host Provider is best?
freakachu replied to Shocksteky's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
I don't think you would get stepped on for speaking from personal experience. no advertising means things like "hey guys! check out my server hosting service! *link*! *slogan*!" and similar. it doesn't mean you can't recommend stuff, especially if it's something you've used and been happy with. I agree it can be a fine line, but I don't think you would be crossing it, so feel free to inform us about this thing you are using. -
How to completely disable redpower 2?
freakachu replied to Wolvenmoon's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
if you're looking for more specific help, posting the actual error might help. it may be totally useless as well, but you never know. -
I like how hung up the OP is about modloader vs FML. FML literally emulates modloader for mods that still use it. as far as I know, that emulation is perfect and complete as well, meaning the OP is hilarious.
-
MPC, IMO. it's how I roll when I want to play MKVs. granted I'm on a real OS windows 7.
-
I would say this thread, but it isn't funny.
-
sounds like the OP got served
-
you could start by telling us what the actual problem is. you could then move on to posting it in the correct place. that would be my advice.

well, problem number 1 is that your link goes to a webpage where you can click a link to download the file. meaning it is not a direct link to the file and the launcher is grabbing an HTML page and going "wtf, mates?" then tossing it out the window. that is problem number 1. problem number 2 is that your folder structure in the zip is wrong. the first thing I see when I open it is a folder called "package". that will ensure that your zip never actually works. let me show you why: this is what a tekkit lite folder looks like and this is what your zip looks like please note that these two should match, or at least the parts you want to change should match up. do they appear to match up to you? no? incredible. problem number 3 is the use of minecraft.jar instead of the modpack.jar for GuiAPI. not only is it a really bad idea to distribute the minecraft.jar file, it also will get overwritten by modpack.jar because of how the launcher works. if you'd paid attention to the video, this is explicitly mentioned. so there you go, exactly why you are a nubcake in great detail as promised. was that clear enough for you?

just a few questions about tekkit lite
freakachu replied to kreepergrimms's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
yes, pretty much. also, classic has built in bukkit support. lite does not have bukkit by default, but can be made to support it (see the various stickies in this section). -
just a few questions about tekkit lite
freakachu replied to kreepergrimms's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
biggest differences are probably EE3 vs EE2, meaning no collectors, trans tablets, EMC, condensers, etc. and all the new and updated stuff from the newer versions of the mods. a lot was added between 1.2.5 and now. and you can use the custom zips feature to add any mods you want pretty easily. -
in the absence of the aforementioned zip file to examine, I'd guess part of your problem is trying to package minecraft.jar, because that will do exactly jack for you. put the GuiAPI in modpack.jar and include that instead. give me the link and I'll tell you exactly how much of a nubcake you are in great detail. I promise.

buggy does not mean "inconsistent", it means it is the result of a bug. you can't tell me that behavior was planned from the get-go. there will be new wacky interactions that create odd and unexpectedly useful behaviors, I'm sure. basically what I'm saying is, "D+ see me after class"

Windows 8 blah blah fullscreen lagg blah blah
freakachu replied to Vovegog's topic in Off Topic Discussion
there's a setting in nvidia's control panel called "multi display/mixed-GPU acceleration", try setting it to "multiple display performance mode". I have no idea if that will actually do anything, but it sounds like it might matter for your situation. -
they removed the quirky behavior that allowed a "BUD switch" to exist in the first place. I don't think anyone could argue that they made sense or were a thing that was intended, regardless of how useful they may or may not have been. I bet this same argument was had when water ladders were removed, too.

tbh I have little insider knowledge on the front. the most that I know for sure is that it will look amazing. outside of that, I have little hard info for you.
-
step one: make zip step 2: create relevant folders inside zip step c: place mods and/or configs in their respective folders inside zip step IV: upload zip somewhere that it is accessible directly, give out URL step 0110: profit
-
the file does come from elsewhere I believe. it's downloaded from the technic file mirror along with the mods and all that. I think you may be pleased with what is coming in the next few weeks on this front. right now though, it's not configurable really.

yes, it's secretly all a plot to get everyone to join the cult of kakermix and bow before the might of his massive dong. you caught us red handed. I guess we can all go home now.

I don't think you understand the actual goal of the rules and enforcement we have here. it isn't to prevent "drama" or enforce some kind of morality on people. there's no reason to be professional when none of us are being paid, either. you have to be pretty stupid to want railcraft enough to whine on these forums but not enough to use the custom zips feature (assuming a server) or simply install the mod yourself if you're playing alone to get the mod back. the tools were given to you. <personal opinion> if people like you were not so bent out of whack about permissions in the first place, none of this shit would be required. we wouldn't have all these idiots running around spouting off utter nonsense about permissions lists, illegal modpacks, or whatever. we wouldn't have things like the leader of FTB telling one of the primary modders in the UE (AKA voltz) pack to, and I quote, "fuck off" because he misunderstood something that was said to him and one of his users pointed out said leader's hypocrisy about the way the pack and this modder are treated. but of course FTB is the pack that cares about modders and respects modders. I'm getting off topic a bit but the point is that you have what you need to do accomplish what you desire, if you weren't such a toolbox you could be playing tekkit lite with railcraft right now</personal opinion>
