Rye1994 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Hey all not trying to be a douchebag but I just wondered why you are so against signing off a post in the forum? Is it just as a test to see who's read the rules? Also I am new so this topic has probably been beaten to death already. I mean it's just a habit of mine to write "Thanks, Ryan" at the end of my posts. As I am thankful and I am Ryan, lol. Just curious :)
Valkon Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 "Your username is already there, it's redundant. Plus it makes you look like a loser. (You might be a loser!) It's also an easy way to tell that you haven't read these rules." So yes, it counts as a "did you read the rules" test and is unnecessary anyways.
BurningCake Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Maybe because your username is approximately 2.5 inches away to the left?
andrewdonshik Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 <----- Look at my name. Now, do you need me to sign it again? Signed, Nope, it's redundant. EDIT: 'd
Rye1994 Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 I see your points about the username but this is the only forum I go on which is against signing off names, lol. Thanks for your replies though.
SimpleGuy Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I'm curious what other forums mandate you to sign posts and ban you if you don't.
Cheap Shot Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Also yes it is a "they didn't read the rules" test. Many people fail.
Markarthian Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 It's okay right if you're talking for someone else? (At least in my opion that would be ok XD) cuz I just did that lol.. Edit: I have read the rules, was the first thing I did when I came to this forum...
Jorcer Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 It's okay right if you're talking for someone else? (At least in my opion that would be ok XD) cuz I just did that lol.. Edit: I have read the rules, was the first thing I did when I came to this forum... Do you mean when you quote someone? I would not classify that as signing a post.
Cheap Shot Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Do you mean when you quote someone? I would not classify that as signing a post. I think he means like if he's speaking for others, as in representing them. And no thats not ok. Don't do that either. Tell them to get their own accounts.
Jorcer Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I think he means like if he's speaking for others, as in representing them. And no thats not ok. Don't do that either. Tell them to get their own accounts. I agree with you if that was what he meant. Sounds like a really convoluted way to back out of something if it goes wrong. (Like oh I didn't say that!...)
Markarthian Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 What I meant: I said in another post: "thanks in advance from my band" I agree with you if that was what he meant. Sounds like a really convoluted way to back out of something if it goes wrong. (Like oh I didn't say that!...) Is that really something that would happen here? Lame... I think he means like if he's speaking for others, as in representing them. And no thats not ok. Don't do that either. Tell them to get their own accounts. Aww, well too bad. But if they did make their own accounts, what would that help? It'd clog up the thread "thanks from the drummer; thanks from the singer" etc.
Jay? Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Aww, well too bad. But if they did make their own accounts, what would that help? It'd clog up the thread "thanks from the drummer; thanks from the singer" etc. We don't need to be thanked individually by every person. You could just say "thanks". Knowing that your band is grateful doesn't add anything to the thread, so it really isn't necessary.
The_DarthMoogle Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Arse, I was here to see perhaps an excellent a capella rendition of a classic hit song. But that would be the singing thread of course.
Cheap Shot Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 What I meant: I said in another post: "thanks in advance from my band" I saw that but didn't warn because it didn't really seem like signing to me. It was just "my band says thanks" not "-signed, My band" There is a difference.

Torezu Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Ah, I see. That's good, another month of hellen Keller would be pretty annoying -.-' It wouldn't be another month. All 3 of your points expire in a week. Signing only gives you one point, so you wouldn't even notice it unless you were particularly egregious in your offensiveness.

Ah, I see.. so for example being a bag of dicks gives 3 ->hellen Keller for a month. But not so big offences would give 1 point resulting in hellen Keller for a week or something like that?
SimpleGuy Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 As long as a member has 3 or more warning points they get the nice pink baby treatment. So having 1 or 2 points wouldn't be noticeable. All points by default last a month. I don't personally change this time period though mods have that capability.
freakachu Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I think I've only ever messed with the time frame once. so yeah, not very frequent.
Markarthian Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Ok, I think I understand it now. Thanks for clarifying :)
Cheap Shot Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I sometimes modify the time from "expires in a month" to "expires never". usually I'm adding 12 points in that case.
Jorcer Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I sometimes modify the time from "expires in a month" to "expires never". usually I'm adding 12 points in that case. So that would mean that a Kellering lasts indefinitely but the person can still post right?
Xylord Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 So that would mean that a Kellering lasts indefinitely but the person can still post right? No, twelve points is the "Nuke it from orbit" sentence, the guy is banned/kitty jailed.
spartanyanni Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 No twelve point is the "Nuke it from orbit" sentence, the guy is banned/kitty jailed. + extreme prejudice.
