Is There No Automatic Mining in Voltz?

I have been playing Voltz for a bit now and I have not found anything to do my mining for me! I have had to make long and boring mining trips and you need so much material that this is fairly impractical. I know that you can sort of use a tunnel bore to do some auto mining but there has to be a better way.

The only thing that I have found so far is explosives and there also seems to be no good way to get gunpowder either. I would love to have to do explosive mining (cause the boom is cool!) but killing tonnes of creepers is dangerous! Any suggestions or thoughts on this?

Not yet. Cal mentioned he was looking at doing something for this (on IRC, so take it with a grain of salt), but just be patient. Voltz is still considered a beta at this point, and is being developed constantly.

Thank you Niavmai, I couldn't find any kind of news on the matter and there is totally a way to make explosives easily and cheaply. And blowing stuff up is way fun!

Actually, there is the bore machine. Although it isn't all automatic and it takes AGES To make one, it still has it's uses. Also, helpful hint on making the fuel last longer on it, use coal coke. It helps, alot.

Well, are you mining to clear out a large area, or are you mining for resources? If you have an LHC set up, then it shouldn't be that hard to clear out a fairly large area via antimatter for whatever uses you have in mind.

Lear, I like the way the boring machine works. It adds realism, and I think that it's good enough. In all honesty, if you need automatic mining THIS badly, you really need to play default minecraft more.

The boring machine, though time consuming to make an supply, is an excellent work horse. Lays tracks for you, and as soon as I find out a way to put down a pattern with the machine I will be making entire rail ways with the bore.

I said nothing bad about the bore. I think it has its annoyances, but it works well enough.

I would rather have the tunnel bore over any of the other automatic mining machines. The quarry is great for clearing a chunk to make an underground base, however, if it's rare resources you are after (like diamonds) the tunnel bore is perfect. Just make a ladder going down to the diamond layer and set it up. Horizontal automatic mining should yield more rare resources than vertical automatic mining in a small grid. So I'm glad Voltz has the tunnel bore and not the quarry or mining well.

You want quarries, Tekkit dude. Voltz is a more challenging version of Tekkit. With moar explosives. WAY more explosives. Sometimes I think that Michael bay was behind this modpack...

But yeah. You gotta mine a lot in Voltz. That's part of the fun. So don't be lazy. :P

Tunnel bore+anchor cart+chest cart, thats how to auto mine in voltz .

As for best mining explosive ummm, not really found any of them are that good for mining, especially for the cost ratio

Railcraft has recently been removed from voltz so unfortunatly, theres now no autominer in the game "yet".

You can either use MFFS or if you don't want all the extra cobblestone use a laser drill. Laser drills are probably the best, especially went you setup a handfull of them properly with plenty of power you will have about all the ores you can dream of.
