Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted June 22, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 @acmr212: Yes, you do have to pay to have an entire folder where all files contained within are automatically shared. However, you can simply share individual files with ease with only the free account. Dropbox works fine for modpack hosting.

Xiaos Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Mediafire never let me down for any file hosting yet. You can have a direct link as well.
Tommsy64 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 MediaFire doesn't provide direct links. You need a direct link, as in, if you were to click on that link, your browser would immediately start downloading it or prompting you what to do without having to click anything on the page first. Right clicking the download file button and clicking "copy link" will give you the direct download link to the file. So you can use mediafire.
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted August 14, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted August 14, 2014 Don't use mediafire. The link you get by the method Tommsy64 provided will yield a direct link, but mediafire can and does change that link in order to prevent exactly what you are doing. Use Dropbox or copy.com or some other service which specifically supports direct links.

(But I updated the pack a lot, probably the servers never had the time to change the direct link)

Pulseeey Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) I currently use https://rapidgrab.net/cloud Seems to work nicely, based in the Netherlands so it's not a bad location. You do only get 25GB of data at first though but I suppose that's more than enough for a modpack developer. Edited September 14, 2014 by Pulseeey
speedstar101 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Use the same trick that is used for dropbox for copy.com
Lethality Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I can not get my modpack to work anywhere. Every time I update the modpack on tecnicpack.net and then try to load it in the launcher, it says its invalid. I have tried everything suggested here. Are there any current working methods?
TijuanaSpecial Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Yeah Lethality, I have had the same issues for almost a week now. I don't think it has anything to do with the sites you are using to host. I have used copy.com for months, never an issue, and now just stops.
bucksnort2 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I have tried a lot of the suggestions on here, and none have worked for me. Bitbucket seems to be the easiest, but I don't know how to make it download ONLY the modpack.zip file instead of a zip file with modpack.zip inside of it
squirtre Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 use copy.com thats where most are hosted now
batfreak12345678 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Found a trick to convert a dropbox link to a direct link! just replace the www.dropbox.com with https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com MAKE SURE TO KEEP THAT HTTPS THERE. conversion example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0rkhgsxzvpxnris/Teekit-edu-1.5.2-1.5.zip?dl=0 To... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/0rkhgsxzvpxnris/Teekit-edu-1.5.2-1.5.zip?dl=0 It'es easy!
keepercreeper22 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 also can uguyspost a video on here? and how do u learn more about java cause i wanttomakemy own mods?
recneps Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I am having trouble using drop box, I click on the file, and it brings up the little download and share menu. I right click on the download button and select copy link location. I then paste it into my pack location bar on my modpack, and it gets the "You must provide a valid link to your custom zip." error.
Neko_TheHood Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Hey, figured out the fix to make dropbox work thanks to this forum: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/off-topic/computers-science-technology/195741-modpack-hosts-not-dropbox-or-google-drive when you upload your modpack file to dropbox and attain the link by hitting share and (dont get put off by the email thing) click get link, it will copy the link to clipboard, sound familiar? well heres the most important step when you paste your link into the modpack file location box in technicpack, simply add this to the end of your link: ?dl=1 example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/blahblah/Modpack.zip becomes: https://www.dropbox.com/s/blahblah/Modpack.zip?dl=1 amazing xD also using something like webs.com to make free website, and upload the file like you would a photo or something you want on the site, then just use its direct link, works fine also.
Sushix Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I really need a new site to host ASAP. Was hosting on Dropbox but they cut me off because I was getting too much traffic. My modpack is getting hundreds of downloads a day and I can't have it being down for this long. Anyone have any suggestions? Even temporary hosting places that will work.

Copy.com is an awesome host, my old modpack Ultra Modded Survival used terabytes of bandwidth a day and they didn't even bat an eye.

I tried Copy but it wouldn't work, when downloading the modpack from the launcher it ended up being invalid. For now I have just ended up buying Dropbox Pro. Edited December 29, 2014 by Sushix
sndeang51 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I basically swear by copy.com at this point. Really is a good file host when you get used to it.
Amaxter Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I hate to be that guy that says he was into something before it was cool, but I found Copy in like September of 2013 or so, so yeah. You can thank me later.
Sushix Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 So now my modpacks got so popular that even Dropbox Pro can't handle the traffic. Need a new hosting site, I'll retry Copy.com but it didn't work for me before. Anything else I could try?
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted January 4, 2015 Discord Moderator Posted January 4, 2015 You are exceeding 200G/day on your Dropbox Pro account? Sheesh. You can try copy.com (it'll work if you set it up correctly). However, it sounds like you REALLY need to implement the Solder API.
