Help on Cauldron Server with The 1.7.10 Pack
plowmanplow replied to PetePandaPablo's topic in Cafe Lame
This probably belongs in Server Op Swap Shop. Hopefully an admin will move it. You probably want Thermos. There is a link on that page for installation instructions. -
If your pack has Forge #1558 (which it does), and the error message says, "minimum version required is ...1566", what would you think you would need to do to fix the problem? If your answer was, "Update my Forge to the latest 1.7.10 version (i.e. 1614)", then you would be correct.

The same way as the other bullet point: You have no config files in your pack. This is always bad. I would recommend using something like the BareBonesPack to build and test your pack so that you can get all your config files and edit them as needed before including them in your published modpack archive.

Public DropBox URLs should be altered in the following manner: Change "www" to "dl". Change "dropbox" to "dropboxusercontent". Remove any trailing "?dl=0" or "?dl=1" (including the question mark). Make sure you are incrementing the pack version number any time you alter the pack data or metadata. The Forge universal binary JAR file in /bin/ must be named "modpack.jar". Yours is named "CustomModPack.jar". You have no config files in your pack. This is always bad. I would recommend using something like the BareBonesPack to build and test your pack so that you can get all your config files and edit them as needed before including them in your published modpack archive. You have a fatally ancient version of Biomes O' Plenty. You have the deobfuscated version of Botania. This version is only intended for use by mod developers and will not work in your pack. You need the standard release version. Your ChickenBones Mods are fatally out of date. You should be using the latest 1.7.10 versions from the link here. You should be including the /mods/1.7.10/ folder and its contents in your modpack archive.

Your URL should not have a trailing "?". I specifically stated that the trailing "?dl=0" or "?dl=1" needed to be removed. Please ensure that the URL you are attempting to paste into the settings page for your pack is the "dl.dropboxusercontent" one, not the "www.dropbox" URL. The text of the URL in your last post is correct (except that you need to remove the "?"), but the target of that link is the incorrect URL.

Friends cant connect to my modpack server
plowmanplow replied to jonprutt's topic in Platform Pagoda
Assuming you are hosting this at home: Verify that the firewall on the system hosting the server has the proper ports open. This will be done through the firewall settings or by disabling the firewall (at least to test). Verify that your router has the correct port forwarded to the system hosting the server. This can be accomplished after the first step by starting the server and using http://canyouseeme.org/ to verify that the port is open. -
Need help finding mods for my modpack
plowmanplow replied to XkillerDomx/Dominic's topic in Platform Pagoda
Don't start multiple threads about the same issue. It makes it difficult to keep everything focused and in one place. My response from one of your other posts: This probably belongs in Platform Pagoda (maybe Server Op Swap Shop). Hopeful an admin will move it. Dropbox public URLs should be altered in this fashion: Change "www" to "dl". Change "dropbox" to "dropboxusercontent". Remove any trailing "?dl=0" or "?dl=1". Your pack contains unneeded and unwanted files. Your pack should only contain the folders: /bin/, /config/, /mods/. Additionally, the /bin/ folder should only contain the file "modpack.jar". You should also not be including any of the individual files currently in the root directory of the modpack archive. You are using an ancient version of Forge. You should probably be using the latest 1.7.10 build. Your CraftGuide mod is not from a legitimate location. Neither is Magic Clover nor Vein Miner. Always get your mods from the locations provided by their authors. Your modpack does not include the /mods/1.7.10/ folder or its contents. You should be including this folder in your modpack archive. I am unable to evaluate the server because you did not provide a link to download an archive of the server. Also, the server listing inside the modpack is for your internal IP address/network and will not work for people outside your house. -

The /bin/modpack.jar is simply the latest/correct version of the Minecraft Forge universal binary JAR file renamed to "modpack.jar".

So, you correctly provided a pastebin link to the report, then pasted the entire thing into the thread? Please remove the pasted in text. Takes up WAY too much space and is pointless. As for your crash, yes it indeed looks like something related to textures. Are you able to remove the pack, make sure the folder is gone, then re-add the pack and start it?

Client Only Mods: SmartRender ZyinsHUD Mods which should work but are poorly coded and don't function in SMP: DiseaseCraft After removing these mods I was able to launch the server.

The text we see of that link is correct. The URL itself is not. You must have added a link and put the altered URL as the "Link Text" and the original URL as the "URL".

Modpacks Take Ages to Start - Linux
plowmanplow replied to gdgriffiths's question in Technic Launcher
@gdgriffiths Can you confirm that the long and unexpected delay you are referring to happens between the time you click "Play" in the Launcher and when the client "minecraft" window opens? If this is true then yes, the delay here would normally be just a few seconds. AetherPirate has an excellent suggestion for watching the console. How much RAM are you allocating in the Launcher? One should never allocate more than 4G of RAM or half your physical RAM (whichever is smaller). One should usually allocate no more than 3G of RAM unless you have an enormous modpack with a large and complex resourcepack.- 4 replies

One must provide details about which pack you are trying to launch (and don't say "all of them", give a specific example) along with the /logs/fml-client-latest.log and /crash-reports/<most-recent-file> in a pastebin service before we can help you.

I would recommend downloading the file again. You have 64bit Windows and the file should work just fine (I just tried it myself). -

It looks like the MC Heroes and Generals stuff doesn't like the version of Java you have. Try updating to the Java 8 version linked above. -
Dropbox public links should be altered in this manner: Change "www" to "dl". Change "dropbox" to "dropboxusercontent". Remove any trailing "?dl=0" or "?dl=1" The contents of your modpack are in a subfolder. The required folders (bin, config, mods) must be at the top level of the folder structure inside the modpack archive. You have included the incorrect contents for your modpack. You should only include the /bin/, /config/, and /mods/ folders. Additionally, the /bin/ folder should only contain the file "modpack.jar" (which you are currently missing).

The only think I can suggest is trying the Java 8u25 and see if that gets you any further. -

Supposedly you can downgrade your Java version to get this working: Java 7 Download and install: http://cdn.lemonmc.com/jre-7u80-windows-x64.exe Start up the launcher Launcher options -> Java settings -> Minecraft Java Version -> pick 1.7.0_80 64-Bit Attempt to launch a modpack. Java 8 Download and install: http://cdn.lemonmc.com/jre-8u25-windows-x64.exe Start up the launcher Launcher options -> Java settings -> Minecraft Java Version -> pick 1.8.0_25 64-Bit Attempt to launch a modpack. DO NOT update Java 8 as versions past this one do not work. -
What shows up in the client logs coincident with the server log? How much physical RAM does the server host have? How much are you allocating with the startup script? Do you have this hosted, or are you running the server on the same machine as your client? When you say the clients get disconnected, are they crashing to the Launcher/Desktop or is it just a disconnect from the server? I updated my test server for your pack to your current client version and have it up and running. Are you or one/more of your users able to test it out to see if they get disconnected? This will help figure out if it's something in the pack causing a problem or if it's something to do with your hosting environment. You are OP on the test server. Server: vanilla.wegoboom.biz:25570 Edit: I've been able to stay connected to my test server for your pack for hours without a single issue.

You have the wrong version of Forge (modpack.jar). You have the 1.8.9 version. You need to replace that with with the latest 1.7.10 version.

Always provide the API URL or a link to the platform pack page when requesting custom modpack assistance.

Is this a laptop or a desktop? If you can provide the model number of the system I will see what I can find.
