how do you host a server on a webserver?
VideoBoy replied to devdog's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
You just need need SSH and root access. You might need MySQL for certain plugins, and Cron can be set up for automatic backups. Also, what are the specs of the system? Just because it can host websites doesn't mean it can host a Tekkit server. You need a good CPU and a lot of RAM. You can make a huge server with that kind of bandwidth. -
Crafting recipe result disappears immediately when trying to craft

What are you trying to craft? This is a known problem with crafting the Automatic Crafting Table MkII. -
BuildCraft/ComputerCraft/Forestry/Redpower aren't working

Woah woah woah. Don't just op everything. Unless you want people using them to grief. Turtles are particularly useful to get inside protected bases with minimal effort. XD -

Tekkit has no mac launch file...

iPhone is also overpriced, lulz. And you have to sign a stupid contract unless you want a cracked one from eBay that costs 3 times as much. The most expensive thing I've ever bough from Apple was a 3rd gen iPod Touch. -
This will get you a relatively safe server. There will be bad times regardless of how many precautions you take, so BACKUP OFTEN. 1) Remove the EE mod. Don't minimize it like some would advise. Avoid it like the plague. 2) Look for AlienX's thread and download his custom WorldEdit/WorldGuard. There's a link to it in one of the stickys. 3) Download the latest version of IC2 from the Mod Central. It fixes a lot of things related to security and protection plugins. 4) Either disable or tone down nukes & reactor explosions in the IC2 config. Nukes will damage protected land no matter what plugin you use. 5) CoreProtect works fine. If you want Factions, get the 1.7.5 version. 6) Get SofterLandings plugin from Bukkitdev to avoid instant death when landing with jetpack. Dynamite & mining laser (in Explosive mode only) can and will bypass all protections like the nuke does, so disable them as you see fit. No laser is a deal breaker for a lot of people so I'd keep it there and only remove it if it becomes too misused on your server.

How to transfer EU out of the nether?

Ignore every post above me and join scandic.us:25573. 20 slots but it only gets 15 at most around 4 o'clock. Hosted in Nashville. Everyone lives further apart and minds their own business so as long as you travel far enough before starting, you won't have to worry about griefers. You get a nice starter kit too with food to last you a few days.

How to transfer EU out of the nether?

Is there a way to detect if a crystal is full or empty? I use filters to put empty batteries in and take full batteries out because an empty battery has a different item ID. Or do I just have to time it? -

"Artists". That's only true because of the software. Apple makes a lot of the more popular audio/video processing software that is OSX specific. The hardware has nothing to do with it. They've been using Intel CPUs since 2006 or so, which means an Apple Macintosh is as much of a PC as a Dell Inspiron or an HP Pavilion. They just cost more, look fancier, and come with a different OS. -
Haha, np. I figured that was it. I hope they do include Mo'Creatures in the next RB. :'D

I prefer to keep that confidential, haha. Ask a mod or admin, they know how to contact me. It's too easy to accuse admins of hacking when they kick your ass, even if they did by legit means. I can't play on my other server with my primary account anymore because of this; lots of dear good players left the server with that impression after I raided them (legitimately)... :(

Railcraft? Wat? Why not just: Nuky reactor -> HV transformer -> fiberglass -> yo base. I would suggest putting a MFSU every 40 blocks for 0 power loss, but who cares about ONE EU every 40 blocks? Alternatively, set up a battery teleport system with ender chests & charging benches. I've done it before when teleport pipes broke on my server, it's not hard. Relevant anecdote: I had a mark 1 reactor at bedrock under my base, hooked up with 60 meters of fiberglass cable. So this one time I'm feeling adventurous and try to increase its power output by building an iceblock maker next to it to cool it down. I got it to output ~600EU/t and then I heard a "fss" sound. My 60 fiberglass cables, vanished in an instant, then 2 MFSU's exploded and took out two control computers which allowed my mass fabricator to eat up the remaining MFSUs. By the time I got to that room, I had lots of UU matter but six empty MFSUs. All my power was gone. Moral of the story: nuclear reactors aren't toys.

[SEVERE BUG] Wireless Tracker WILL CRASH SERVERS!

Stand on fire. :P -
Snake? Big Cat? lolwut. Are you running one of the dev versions, by any chance? Mo' Creatures was included in one of the dev versions (for testing purposes) visible in the Launcher but those are DEV versions, in other words unstable and buggy. Make sure all clients are running 3.0.3 and server is running 3.0.4.

SMP MSFU Redstone output does not work.
VideoBoy replied to Aquaraider11's question in Tekkit Classic
Got any plugins? This w works fine on my server... I needed "Emit if full" on several MFSUs for an auto-managing mass fabricator system. -
Hmm? Was Wireless Redstone updated without changing the Tekkit server version number? Or is this guy running 3.0.3 server?

Omg no. That's not for running Minecraft on SQL server. That's for plugins that use SQL databases like LWC and CoreProtect. You CAN do unmanned automatic backups without restarting. There are plugins for this. I think Essentials plugin has something about backups in the config. Personally, I have a script in /etc/rc.d with start/stop/backup commands. I use cron to do a "light" backup every 30 minutes and then a "full" backup every day at 12am. A light backup copies the entire server folder to another folder using rsync so that only the files that have been modified are copied. This takes about 30 seconds. Then a full backup uploads everything to a SVN repository. I use SVN instead of zip files because it takes less space. One full day backup never exceeds 300MB, where a zip file would be around 2-4GB per day or more depending on the size of your world. Ideally you should keep SVN updates every hour or so for more precision during rollbacks, but griefing is allowed in my server so I only keep the SVN copies for posterity and in case something else corrupts the world like a power outage or a hard drive crash.
