A way of automate the mining of redstone ore as with silk touch.
Curunir replied to EvilOwl's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Well, you can always quarry the Nether, and smelt-pulverize the Nether Redstone Ore. Worked alright for me, and with Cryotheum pit cooling it is quite painless to run unattended. -
Once you get to Laser Drill level, crying over wasted resources is essentially pointless. But I know what you mean. Good find, that. Still more mods to look into before I can replicate it, though.

Not against a current for sure. Although I think you could get out of a pool. My disaster insurance for these cases is carrying my important stuff around in a Strongbox. Even if you die in lava/cryo and drop it, you can return later to retrieve the Strongbox. Apparently they don't even despawn. Can't help you with armour and tools/weapons, but this saved my quarry, pump, tanks, pipes and whatever else I take with me a few times. And supposedly, a Golden Bag of Holding can be upgraded to respawn with you. The upgrade wears off and has to be renewed when it actually does respawn, but still worth something. I still prefer my Strongbox, though.

big reactors Trouble with Big Reactors Energy Output
Curunir replied to MisterCrow's topic in Tekkit Discussion
You likely made it "too small". This is not primarily a function of housing size, but the material and massiveness of the turbine coil. What did you use? Note that you can be at 100% efficiency for a given coil setup, but still heavily underuse the actual steam potential of your reactor, which will lead to bad efficiency. You could probably keep those 253mB/t up with a much stricter control rod setting, or less fuel rods altogether. I finished my own turbine setup today, which is about 3-4 times as efficient as my previous passively-cooled reactor. The reactor part has 36 fuel rod blocks (3x3x4 fuel core) and runs at 80% control rod setting, which gives me ~1975mB/t of steam. I use this back-to-back in two identical turbines, which are a little undersized so far (for lack of Cyanite to craft the rest of the parts). They take 800mB/t each with double Enderium block coils and 32 rotor blades, and each one gets me around 8500 RF/t that way. It could be better with a closer match, just running 1600 RPM for now. I'm not sure yet if I'll downsize the reactor core to come closer to the 1600 mB/t of steam I actually need, or expand the turbines a little. As it stands, this setup takes just over 0.050 mB/t of Yellorium to get a combined 17.000 RF/t. My passive reactor used to get me ~9.900 RF/t for 0.103 mB/t of Yellorium. Half the fuel used, over 70% increased output. Sounds about right. I will add a picture tomorrow, but I shut down my client for today. All numbers are from recent memory, and might contain small errors. P.S.: I think the parts you want were only added in 1.2.9 beta. As for the translucent rotors, happens here as well and looks intentional. -
It also looks good. Big Reactors' Turbines makes for some impressive landscape if you scale them right. I had previously been under the (false) assumption that the Laser Drill mines ores, but since it actually generates them (supposedly from out-of-world), the high energy cost is more than justified. I do not consider it cheating, but more of a Star Trek replicator thing. And they will gladly suck up all the energy you can throw at them. Combined with some EE3 alchemy, an ME network and various factories, that is what the Tekkit "endgame" is all about right now.
-
You probably want the Ender Quarry from Extra Utilities. It is expensive, leaves the landscape intact, and is - to my knowledge - currently not in Tekkit. Not sure if Extra Utilities is on an old version, or if it's just disabled.
-
The bugs only happen when you use vanilla double chests, iirc. Just avoid them for... well, anything. I am also strongly in favour of Strongboxes. They are completely blast resistant, can be trasported when full (shift-wrench to break while preserving content), can be upgraded without losing contents, and won't even despawn if dropped upon death. Not even in lava. Try to beat that.

Thermal Expansion Conduit Crash in Tekkit 1.2.8e

All issues go here. If you want help with them, that is. Also, >guidelines. -
If you need help, the tracker is where you can get some. Guidelines are >here. Oh, and try to avoid colouring like that. It's annoying, and will decrease people's willingness to help you.
-
Please post all technical issues on the tracker, preferably after reading the >guidelines.

No one. All issues belong on the tracker. Guidelines can be viewed >here.

Issues belong on the tracker, you won't get help in the discussion forum. And as I pointed out, your issue is most likely not related to this message.

newbie guide On the fine art of quarry mining
Curunir replied to Curunir's topic in Tekkit Discussion
About server load when collapsing cooling curtains: Some time ago, I checked server CPU usage when draining a water curtain from a quarry. Server load was increased, but not dramatically so. It was a Core i5-3570k, so it might still be more taxing for slower servers. However, when collapsing a Gelid Cryotheum curtain, I noticed no load increase whatsoever. Looks like TE is really thorough about optimizing its stuff. Here is a picture to give you an idea about the size. So I recommend using Cryotheum for these purposes. When applied correctly, only a dozen buckets will create a fill of this size, which can eventually be held up by leaving a single bucket/block in place.- 42 replies

I have, and re-checking now, it works again. I did not change anything on my side. P.S.: To be more specific, I repeated the very same steps that led to failure before, and they worked now. Especially using the IMG tag works now, when it previously gave an error message. I am 100% sure that I used direct links, not picture landing pages, when trying before (the latter usually do not end in .jpg). No idea what might have gone wrong, or what changed. But I'm not hallucinating.
-
I have most definitely tried it with direct picture links, and they work everywhere except on the Tekkit forums. I went and used a picture hosting service for comparison, same result.
-
Which is short for "What Am I Looking At?", and you can open its configuration by pressing numpad 0.
-
I noticed that, too. It points to somebody's Dropbox account. But my server is not experiencing these issues. I just can't use the pump, but apart from that, it works. You likely have some other problem.
-
Well, if you have an issue with Tekkit, welcome to the bug tracker.
-
That rather looks like an exploit. At zero fuel usage, you have free turbine energy with that setup. I guess the formula behind reactor calculations cannot properly resolve the numbers.
-
If that is the case, Tekkit has a conflict here that needs resolving. I was under the impression that those also belong on the tracker. I will try updating myself, but I think the whole point of a modpack is that users don't have to do that manually.
-
That looks like you are mixing up Tekkit Classic and regular Tekkit (Main). What are you actually starting from the launcher?
-
If you did that in Survival, congratulations on the sheer amount of resources used... for science! ^^ Wasn't maximum height 48 blocks? It is probably useless to talk efficiency with that behemoth, but I guess the best way to distribute 205 reactor core blocks would be to go maximum height and only use a comparatively narrow base layout. I have a feeling that Yellorium reactors tend to prefer "stick" layouts, because of the increased spatial density achieved by vertical stacking. Now we just need an application for that much RF/t. And maybe some better Conduits and energy storage, so we don't need to build a forest of 10k RF/t main lines just to get the energy out. The crazy thing is that you can actually transfer all that power (or steam) via a single Tesseract. Which would not solve the problem of handling so much, but only shift it to the output end. But still... If you're bored, how about shaping the columns into a pattern that makes up a radiation warning symbol? That way, anybody flying overhead would certainly know what that building is all about. :-D P.S.: 205 columns at 8 blocks height is 1640 fuel blocks, which should be 6560 Yellorium ingots (or buckets, as it internally liquifies them) for a fill. Not quite over 9000 yet, but crazy enough.

If I am reading this correctly, Waila 1.5.2 is for Minecraft 1.7.2 and thus not for the current Tekkit. I also fail to see any TE-specific fix in the recent patch notes. The thing is, when I play in Singleplayer, everything displays fine. Only when I changed to Multiplayer on the very same Tekkit version, it all stopped working for me. This points to a problem with server-side Waila, don't you think? It is not only TE information that fails me, but just about anything from mods. For starters, I would like to understand why all those options are greyed out (screenshot in the opening post is pretty much the same thing I see here). So, should I post it as an issue on the tracker?
-
I am having this very issue. Ever since I moved my singleplayer world to a dedicated server on my LAN, I am unable to see most things in Waila. Almost anything in the modules is set to disabled and greyed out. I notably miss the ability to read energy and fluid levels, which is really annoying. I looked into the Waila.cfg on the server, and most things were set to true. Most entries in the "force" section were set to false, but changing them to true did not solve the problem (of course I restarted the server and checked if my changes persisted - which they did). So, is this an issue for the tracker, or am I overlooking something? Using 1.2.9 beta here.

Still not working here. If I put anything in IMG tags, I get a red warning message atop the preview window: Are there any other tags that can/should be used? When I use the button, it seems that some sort of invisible placeholder is added, but the image still won't show up. Like the one below:
