  8. Sounds like an ID conflict. Just change the affected items' IDs in the config of Railcraft.

  10. I'm assuming it's resolved? I got sounds again on AotBT. (Annoyingly during/after an issue where I needed to reboot my PC, causing my world to get deleted. *grumble*)
  11. Ah. This is not a Tekkit problem then. This is to do with the launcher. Please post in Cafe Lame for that. There'll be a thread pinned near the top. Most likely these are just teething issues though, while the website and launcher are still going through the launch phase. I can imagine a lot of people are currently playing, what with Christmas and the new launch.
  12. Then those guys were being super awesome helpful, but in general you want to take crashes for a specific launcher('s modpack) to their forums. Those modpack creators, whose responsibility it is to offer support for their packs, can then help you best.
  13. I suggest you go to the FTB forums, rather than the Technic forums. I know we're all super-awesome, and it's hard to imagine there's anything but Technic, but we really don't offer support for the FTB launcher and associated packs.

  15. A quick Google shows no results on anybody having results. Go ahead and try it, I'd say. Do report back here with your findings.
  16. I expect the launcher has no problem with Java 8. The current one doesn't either. The modpacks, however, are dependent on Forge which does not play well with Java 8, and will remain that way until the packs get updated with a version of Forge which has that problem fixed.
  17. (Nearly accidentally reported you there...o_0) Not necessarily. TC is one of those mods that can fit in most packs. On a tech-pack, it can bridge the gap between early game and more powerful weapons. Alternatively, it can BE early game. On a magic/adventure-pack it is, again, that bridge between early game and magic weaponry OR it is the progression of weaponry itself. But I do agree that it shouldn't just be thrown in there willy-nilly. If you add it, make sure you think of progression somewhat. I don't necessarily think Tekkit needs it.

  21. This is Off-Topic. We don't talk about games in here. As for power generation, have a look at Tekkit (space) our Attack of the B-Team. Anything will be better than that convoluted zombie of a mod called IC2.

  24. I think GenerikB ran into that problem too, possibly. I think the part that would ignite the portal still uses fire, you just don't see it, and without oxygen...
