mikeprimm Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Hello, folks - I'm the primary developer and owner of the 'Dynmap' plugin, a (currently) Bukkit mod that provides live map renders via a web interface to Bukkit servers. I wanted to inform the community here at Tekkit that I'm actively attempting to provide support for Tekkit in Dynmap - I've been adding support for many of the specific mods over the past few months (RedPower 2, IC2, BuildCraft), and have pretty good coverage for most of the mods on Tekkit (not all, and not perfectly - but it looks pretty good, IMHO!). In any case, I wanted to share both the fact that we're around, that we may be useful for folks running Tekkit, and to let folks know that I'm willing to continue improving and supporting the Tekkit server. Here's the link to the main support thread on minecraftforum.net: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1543523-dynmap-dynmap-web-maps-for-minecraft/ The current recommended build can be downloaded from here (Dynmap v1.3): [Adfly] And our Wiki is at https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/wiki See https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/wiki/Support-for-Tekkit for more details on Tekkit support, and https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/wiki/Support-for-Non-Bukkit-Mods for support for non-Bukkit mods in general. Note: For folks using Tekkit-Lite, I recommend the appropriate Forge specific version of Dynmap (the one for Forge v6.5.0+, for the current Tekkit-Lite), versus using the Bukkit version with BukkitForge. See http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/dynmap-for-tekkit-lite.35939/ for more details on Tekkit-Lite support. Please direct support questions to the main support thread (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1543523-dynmap-dynmap-web-maps-for-minecraft/#entry18859919), and bug reports to our bug tracking on github (https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/issues). github.com/mikeprimm Plugins: AngryWolves, Dynmap, Dynmap-Residence, Dynmap-Mobs, Dynmap-WorldGuard, Dynmap-Towny, Dynmap-CommandBook, Dynmap-Essentials, Dynmap-Factions, random Bukkit contributions, more on the way Contact me on Bukkit.org with suggestions, plugin ideas, or for custom work-for-hire More Guinness and Starbucks are always welcome! rotzkocher Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 thx a lot!!! i'm using dynmap for a while now and it works really smooth. the only problem for me were the non-vanilla blocks that don't apear on the map. i read the instructions about putting in own blocks, but i didn't get the point.
linkthegamer Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (Rare gem) I will have to give your plugin a try. Also I want to thank you for improving the overall quality of this forum with your post.
thecodemonk Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I've been using dynmap for a long time and everyone LOVES it. Being able to chat from the web site is awesome.
Forum Administrators KakerMix Posted February 29, 2012 Forum Administrators Posted February 29, 2012 Hey mikeprimm! Everyone on the team is extremely excited and humbled that you've decided to help and support Tekkit. This post has been stickied because I know a ton of people will be even happier.
Volgarenthor Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 With the amount of memory leaks Tekkit already has, Dynmap would effectively cut a servers maximum server population in half. If the memory leaks could be fixed, i would most def support the allocation and development of this mod for Technic ^_^
mikeprimm Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Well, I certainly appreciate the warm reception! I certainly see the value of what the Tekkit team is providing - as a member of the Bukkit-Bleeding team, I appreciate the value and the limitations of CraftBukkit, as well as the amazing offerings from the broader client/server modding community (not to mention the equally frustrating integration and support problems of it). Fact is, the sort of offering you guys are doing here is what all of us are looking to make much more manageable to accomplish - whether it be the Bukkit team, the Bukkit-now-Mojang guys, or the Spout team - and I see this as a good opportunity to learn what will help those efforts to succeed.
MrDirty Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 This is great, Im using dynmap on my server now and it seems to work great, keep up the great work.
Rx2TF Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I just recently had been messing with the config for dynmap and now I see this! Thanks for the config snippet! Oh and I noticed it lacked "b" in the first line "buildcraft-support: true". Just wanted to point that out in case it's not obvious enough for others.
BlasterMaster555 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) I run two Minecrafts on my server, a Vanilla and a Tekkit. I use Dynmap for the Vanilla worlds, but would like to also have the Tekkit worlds show up on the same URL. Is it possible to have it do via Standalone (my server runs Apache so no need to have dynmap host internally), where two different Dynmaps can work out of the same server directory (the world names are different on each world), or will I have to make a different directory for the Tekkit map world? supersahen Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I run two Minecrafts on my server, a Vanilla and a Tekkit. That Sir Makes No Sense.

I think you're trying to say that you run two servers using the same address (maybe with different ports). Have you tried changing the port numbers used by dynmap for each server? Try setting two different ports for each.
BlasterMaster555 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) Quote That Sir Makes No Sense. The two Minecrafts run from separate folders physically, and the Tekkit one has a different port number. Vanilla: defunct.url[:25565] Tekkit: defunct.url:25566 URL for the Map: defunct.url/world Dynmap is running Standalone, updating through JSON. It is NOT using its built-in web server. The question is, can both Servers update to the same folder if I run Dynmap on the Tekkit world? Edited April 6, 2021 by BlasterMaster555
freakachu Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 just wanted to say that I am so glad someone took the time to create a way to generate maps of tekkit servers. I had been looking around for a mapping tool capable of doing this and found nothing until this thread appeared. it works great and is very much appreciated.
skinner927 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 EDIT2: It seems a bad config file was the cause. EDIT: Sorry, going to post this on their official support areas. Dynmap seems to lock up with any type of chest protection plugin I run. When I say any I mean the two I've tried: LWC and Simple Chest Lock. Any ideas? I love dynmap more than any chest lock mod out there but chest locks are more important. How can I have my cake and eat it too? :D

mikeprimm Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 For folks that asked about 2 servers on the same web - we don't support having two servers on the same MAP, but what you can do (with an external server, like Apache), is have two distinct maps under different URLs (e.g. http://myserver.com/map1, http://myserver.com/map2), and embed them in pages of your choosing (using <iframe> or similar constructs).
xardas Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Mike Primm. I've been hosting servers for the last 2 months. Playing around with bukkit and modded vanilla minecraft servers. I have and will forever use Dynmap on all my servers, it is truely amazing. I have recently switched over to tekkit and was suprised how easy it was to simply add a couple lines to the config.txt and my tekkit world was fully rendered, Volcanos and all Just wanted to say thanks for the great work!
rEvolutionTU Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I just made a post over at mikes githhub page concerning the colors of the items made via handsaw. I'd be so happy if dynmap starts supporting at least the custom half slabs. :3
mikeprimm Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 Yep - I REALLY want to support the RedPower 'microblocks', but its going to be a bit of a project getting it working. They are quite sophisticated, internally, and I need to bypass Bukkit pretty viciously to get the information needed (and, after that, the REAL work starts ). That said, do understand that I don't need convincing to want to implement this - just time that is hard for me to find!
vidplace7 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 It's great to know that one of the best plugins supports mods officially You are one in few mikeprimm, us mod fanatics love you :*
ChrysWhyte Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 This is what I use on tekkit 2.1.1 (Some of them are unchanged, some are, and some I have no idea. bc-autoWorkbench: 169 bc-drill: 171 bc-filler: 155 bc-miningWell: 174 netherores-NetherOreBlock: 135 ic2-blockPowerConverter: 123 railcraft-detectorBlock: 211 railcraft-elevatorBlock: 210 forestry-mill: 255 if anyone has any idea what to do with the other ones (see http://pastebin.com/nSdAER7i) let me know.
RaptorJesus Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I can't get this to work with the recommended build of Tekkit ever since 1.2 came out with the height change.
ChrysWhyte Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I can't get this to work with the recommended build of Tekkit ever since 1.2 came out with the height change. The recommended build is at 1.1, he says in the OP where to go for help, and "It doesn't work" isn't helpful.
