Star and Moon Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I really want to play Tekkit online with my brother, but I need another account to do so, and I really don't feel like spending an extra 20 dollars just to play multiplayer. Is there anyway to cheat through and play with the same account? Help would be very appreciated. Quote
Valkon Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Why would you need to buy another account to play online? Unless you mean your brother needs an account. In which case, there is a way for you to avoid paying for the new account. Have him pay for it. Quote

piousminion Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 1) Disconnect from internet/lan. 2) Login fails, choose offline mode. 3) Reconnect to internet/lan. 4) join game in progress. Hope that helps. Quote
Chefsbrian Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 All the same, there is no way to cheat through and have multiple players on one account. ^Never heard of trying that, I'd think It would cause a issue with both players being on the same server though... Quote

Cheap Shot Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I'm interested to hear if that works or not. Please post results. Quote
Portablejim Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 To preserve anonymity (and also to make it simple), I will use the names Alice and Bob. Both Alice and her brother Bob have Minecraft/Mojang accounts, but only Bob has actually bought minecraft. Alice is on computer A, Bob is on computer B. They want to have a game of Tekkit lite. So: Bob logs into the Technic launcher Computer A with his login name and downloads tekkit lite. Bob tells Alice she really should pay for the game. Alice feels sad that she has not bought the game Alice disconnects Computer A from the network and tries to log in. She chooses Offline mode and the game starts up. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Alice connects the network cable to Computer A Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Alice starts a single player game Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Alice connects the network cable and chooses Open to LAN. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Bob logs in on Computer B with his minecraft account and joins Alice's game They play together while remembering that Alice has still not bought the game. They decide that they don't want to play tekkit lite anymore, they want to play tekkit classic. So: One of them downloads the Tekkit classic server and sets it to offline mode in the server config. Alice fells bad that she has not bought the game. They start the server Alice fells bad that she has not bought the game. They repeat steps 1-6 from when they played tekkit lite, but instead of tekkit lite it is for tekkit classic. Alice joins the server. Alice feels sad she has not bought the game Bob logs in (on computer using his account and joins the server. Portablejim Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Edited for clarity. :3 I feel the removed steps are actually important. Just pirate it. If you still like it when you can afford it in the future' date=' buy it then. Also don’t forget to feel bad. Quote
Teraku Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I feel the removed steps are actually important. -notch quote- Personally, I wouldn't take Notch too seriously anymore. He's the guy who thought "Hey, let's make an incredibly bland new terrain generator while the old one was fine!", and proceeded to add thousands of other unfinished features. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 It's not even really his game anymore. He abandoned it once he had enough money to just sit around and post on twitter. Quote

Teraku Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 There's a George Lucas comparison to be made, here. Except that George Lucas didn't hand the project over to someone else, but ruined it even more. Quote
BurningCake Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Except that George Lucas didn't hand the project over to someone else, but ruined it even more. Really, the worst thing is that he handed it over to Disney... *shudders* Quote
Neowulf Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Really, the worst thing is that he handed it over to Disney... *shudders* Oh c'mon, disney may have a bunch of crap TV show wise but you cannot tell me their theatrical release movies are as bad as episode 1 (direct-to-dvd doesn't count). Quote
GreenWolf13 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Someone on reddit made a post descrbing the situation. It went something like this (not an actual quote): If George Lucas directs the next three movies, there will be a 100% chance that they will be crap. Of Disney directs them, there is a non-zero percent chance that they will be crap. So really, we don't have anything to lose. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Really, the worst thing is that he handed it over to Disney... *shudders* I am loath to derail a thread usually, but this one I personally feel is on the edge of going south with all the "wink wink" piracy. I feel like handing star wars to disney may have been a good move for the franchize. They cant mismanage it any worse then he did. Also avengers was really good. Quote
miniboxer Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 It isn't even piracy, that is like saying that playing splitscreen on a console game is piracy. Your friend isn't using it to get minecraft with mods for free, they are using it to play multiplayer with their friend without having to buy a second account. If it WERE piracy, this thread would have been instantly shut down by cheapshot, instead of him wondering what the results would be. ON TOPIC: The method listed by piousminion should work. I have tried something similar, and I remember it working. Quote

spartanyanni Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I believe we were talking about star wars. I'm interested to see what they will do with he series now. Mostly prequels n'shit, or added stories to the movies.Kind of like Renegade Squadron. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 The should just pick the clonewars cartoons back up where they left off and redo episode III but not shit. Quote
Patrick9_6 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Personally i don't think this is possible, im not sure though. Quote
Chefsbrian Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Hey, he retconned a lot before, I'm sure he'd try to get away with redoing an entire section. But seriously, I agree, if both players joined the same server on the same account, things would break XD Quote
