  2. If you give them anything for their donation it becomes a purchase. I believe they are going to come up with something that we can give them for their "donation" that is Mojang approved.
  3. I don't really see the problem with selling things that people could get themselves. Not pay2win if they are getting the same stuff they could get on their own. God mode for $10k is ridiculous. I hope they come up with something that doesn't completely cripple the way we earn money for our servers. I've never made a lot like some servers, but I've made enough to keep the servers going. I fear that without being able to sell ranks and permissions I will be unable to continue providing a place for people to play.
  4. ID mismatches are only caused if the config files on the client and server are mismatched. MCPC+ has no effect on them. Tekkit.jar that comes with your server files is basically just a renamed forge.jar. If you download MCPC+ and rename it to Tekkit.jar after deleting the old one it should work just fine. Forge loads mods. MCPC+ loads mods and plugins. Not sure which version of mcpc+ you have but I recommend going here http://ci.md-5.net/job/Cauldron-164/ and grabbing build 269 as it is the recommended one.
  5. That is the exact conclusion I came up with. The timing is too curious. Feels like they didn't enforce it until they were able to launch their own line of servers. Probably wait til Forge/Curse/FTB come out with their "product" to bring out the plugin/modding API.
  6. I'd like to apologize if this is in the wrong place. I assumed as it effects server owners it should go here. Not sure if everyone is aware of the recently released Skype chat that Erik Broes aka Grum was involved in, but it appears as though Mojang is planning to update their EULA and starting to enforce it. What does that mean for us? Basically they don't want server owners to sell items, blocks, or permissions in game and solely generate income from donations. The current EULA states that we cannot earn money from Minecraft. Erik stated that they plan to add to the EULA to allow us to generate income in some way. Guess we'll have to wait until they update it to know for sure what that will be. The conversation was pasted here http://pastebin.com/YZzY51bx Article about it by PCGamer http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/06/06/mojang-hints-at-crackdown-on-pay-for-perk-minecraft-servers/ What does everyone think about this?
  7. not 100% sure what you are looking for in a list, but this is the most comprehensive list of mods I've found so far. http://modlist.mcf.li/version/1.6.4
  8. you need a 1.6.4 version of cauldron to run 1.6.4 mods
  9. Guess it'll just have to be done with MCPC+ but I would like to see what happens with the mod you posted. Looks like that will be quite interesting once it's fleshed out. I can already think of a few uses for it with just what's been posted about it.
  10. Only thing I miss from IC2 at all, that hasn't been redone by thermal expansion, is the overclockers. I had a setup on Tekkit Classic that I could process a full inventory of ores in like 10 seconds.
  11. I'm about to start on a new modpack and I was wondering if there is a mod that would allow me to divide access to different mods/blocks/items to 1 of 2 groups. I know I can do this with plugins and permissions, but if there is a way to do this without MCPC+ that would be preferable. I want to do 2 groups where you choose at the beginning which path you want to take.
  12. Ubuntu One is ceasing their file hosting services. Just saw this the other day and thought I'd share.
  13. I'd suggest getting a quality video card, as far as minecraft is concerned. CPU and RAM should be fine on any new computer.
  14. If 3 people are loading over 1000 chunks you might want to check your server properties and look at 'view distance'. This is the radius around the player that the player is chunkloading. I think it defaults to 10. which should make each player load 441 chunks. Dropping it to 4 would make each player load 81 chunks. Not sure what yours is set at, but it's an easy way to lessen the load on your server.
  15. As it's using Mulicraft I may be of some help. First I would suggest downloading FileZilla. This program will enable you to access the server files via FTP. The info you need to login with this should be on your Multicraft page. You then download the server files for the pack you want to use. I believe these come zipped, so you'd want to unzip this file. Then you would upload the unzipped files to the server via FTP. On a side note, I've used 2 different hosting sites that used multicraft and both times I had to send a message to tech support to enable me to use a custom .jar, which was an easy fix. If you want to use plugins as well you will need to download MCPC+ and set multicraft to load that jar instead of the tekkit.jar or whatever the .jar for the modpack is called.
  16. Check out https://www.khanacademy.org/ if you want to take any computer science courses. Completely free.

  17. Would the server have to enable a port for something like this to work?
  18. Yes. It could run better that 1.2.8 versions. It just hasn't been sufficiently tested to be labeled recommended.
  19. "The status page of our server takes us to a "Oops! Google Chrome could not find status.tekkit.pr-gaming.net Did you mean: http://pr-gaming.net" It says status.tekkit.pr-gaming.net and pr-gaming.net I'm assuming it's supposed to be tekkit.pr-gaming.net Was tekkit setup in your DNS to point to the server? As far as the error you posted. I believe that is an issue in your forgeChunkLoading.cfg settings.
  20. If you are trying to enable the public folder on dropbox, check out this page https://www.dropbox.com/enable_public_folder Edit-Guess you have to have a Pro account or an account for business use. I use Ubuntu One to host my packs and have not had a problem yet. The link for that is https://login.ubuntu.com/
  21. I'm not sure when it was, but I started on 1.3 Beta
  22. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's something with the solar generator in the helmet.
  23. Being able to make a bigger portal is a 1.7 feature.
  24. Are any plugins working? Are you using MCPC+? You have to use it to have both mods and plugins running at the same time. If so it may be a permission issue. Try opping yourself in the console with /op
