Right-Click on a time of day setting in NEI's cheat mode and it will disable that time of day completely. Just only enable midnight and the moon should reset to the beginning of the night before the light levels start increasing again.

Does the Vanilla option even have a modpack.jar? If you want to play Vanilla, I suggest you use the regular Minecraft launcher. Less time to start up, faster updates, you name it.

Yeah, that was it. Or Earthbound, which would do one of following things: Crash during the final boss and then delete all your saves, pumping up the enemy limit and spawn chances from about 5 enemies to 100, and random NPC's walking up to you, chanting "CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER!".

Ah, okay. I still wonder why, when using paint (doesn't use transparency), you don't see a white box around your head in-game, even though it's white. Maybe Minecraft is smart enough to not draw the hair/helmet section at all when it's all one color?

Set your GUI Scale to something lower so the search bar actually fits on the screen. NEI is smart enough to not draw stuff off-screen.

I know what you mean. Seeds are pretty much useless now. Although I think too many options would bork stuff like servers. I think they should globally change the world generator for the better. AKA: Either 1.7.3 world generator with the new biomes or something better. I especially miss being able to mine without hitting a neverending cave, beaches, gravel beaches, hills in a forest, not having sudden mountain spam, hilly snow biomes, large lakes, small ponds without the ugly splotches of clay and sand, and biomes overlapping with each other.

As long as they fix the world generator, sure. They've been adding new biomes since Beta 1.8.1 and all that changed was that the game had more templates to endlessly copypaste over the landscape without any real variety. They should either overhaul the generator completely or take the Beta 1.7.3 generator and add the new biomes to that. Also, caves. So many caves. Mining decently? Forget it. Whoop, another cave.

I hope they at least fix the world generation before they stop development.

Without Technic, I probably wouldn't have been exposed to more than the occasional mod like OptiFine and a lot of Bukkit plugins. TBH, BuildCraft turned me off Minecraft modding completely because back then, the author didn't want to explain how BuildCraft works. Why? Because he sold a BuildCraft Manual for 4 bucks.

It's probably the Snooper Settings originating from Minecraft itself, or mods checking for updates. Go into Options and disable Snooper.

Just search for "lock".

Trying to explain it to them would be pointless. Let the commentators themselves do it, or let the "younger audience" as you said figure it out themselves.

What's the point of saying "Technic is not to be confused with other modpacks"? That's like saying "Technic is Technic". Wow, my head hurts. Anyhow, no. People shouldn't waste time catering to ignorant kids.
