I would contend that they don't actually work well there. at best they add little and at worst they create incentive for all kinds of spam. I totally get that it's what you're used to though, and that's fine. we just like being obtuse around here though.

Re: Technic has been updated but in-game it says its not updated... that message is from one of the mods. often, individual mods will update after a technic version is released, and those updates are not quickly added to the pack because that would be an almost full time job. that message will probably keep coming up until another technic version is released, don't worry about it.

I'm gonna suggest to you, theguy, that you may want to start up a blog for this kind of shit. additionally these forums aren't said blog. I'm sure there's someone or even someones who really want to hear about your love life, the names of your girlfriends, their ages, their drinking habits, your schoolyard shenanigans, and what you ate for lunch. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the vast majority of people who read these forums don't fall into that category. I really don't know what you're trying to accomplish with this kind of thing. maybe you're trying to "fit in", or maybe you want to be one of the "cool kids" or be accepted somehow by an amorphous internet group. whatever it is, you're not succeeding. unless you're really, really trying to get banned, in which case you're doing great and keep up the good work. the only reason you are still posting is that you actually do make decent posts sometimes that are helpful and relevant. however you fluctuate wildly between good posts and absolute shit posts. less shit like this, more good posts.

it's a valid point and one which I'm not sure anyone has a definite answer to. the stark contrast between the MC modding community and the mod community for pretty much every other game out there is perplexing to say the least. some of it may have to do with the demographic that the game attracts, but I doubt that can explain even the majority of it. somewhere along the line someone convinced enough people to be all, "oh noes, mah copy writes!", and the "license" that minecraft comes with is loose enough for people to think this is a valid position to take. no idea where that started though.

there is an offline mode. if there's no net connection, it goes into offline mode and will let you play as long as you've logged in online once on that machine before. rejoice, your problem is solved!

this isn't a place to pick up chicks. there's an entire section of this site dedicated to helping you find servers to play on, with people on them that you can play with, over the internet. try that. if what you really want is some lovin', well I'm sure there's a street somewhere within driving distance of you that has at least a few women on its corners that would oblige, for the right price.

honestly it depends on how "high-end" you are trying to go. my current rig ran me over $2k, but it was absolutely bleeding edge at the time. SSD drive, SLI GTX580 video cards, 16G RAM, etc. you can make a rig that will do great for $600-$1000 I'd say. it'd last you for many, many years.
