One question always gets asked over and over again on the forums... "What Bukkit plugins work well with Tekkit?!" Well, that's what this thread is for. In here you can post your personal experiences with certain Bukkit plugins and recommendations as to which ones to use. Think of it as a mini-review compilation.

Keep it related to Tekkit in the sense that we don't need to know what chat adjustment mods work and how well they work. This should be reserved for major gameplay overhaul plugins like Terrain Generation, Multiverse, RPG Plugins, etc.

To keep everything organized you should use the following format:

Plugin Name: Just the name of the plugin

BukkitDev Link: The link to the BukkitDev page

Description: A short description of what the plugin does

Tekkit Compatibility: How compatible it is with Tekkit. Don't be afraid to also post fixes to common problems associated with this plugin! Be sure to clarify whether or not the plugin works well with mod blocks or not.

After this thread builds up a bit I will start adding the highly recommended plugins into the OP so this can be a one-stop shop for people looking for quality Bukkit plugins.

I'll kick things off!

-----------------------------------------

Plugin Name: Transporter

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/transporter/

Description: Create completely customizable warp gates to teleport players across your world or even across multiple servers!

Tekkit Compatibility: As of Tekkit 3.1.2 the Transporter client patch is now directly integrated with Tekkit and you can teleport players across multiple servers seamlessly. I have personally tested it and can say it works flawlessly. It even teleports players inventories! (This can be disabled) Works just fine with bringing over mod blocks as well.

Plugin Name: GriefPrevention

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/grief-prevention/

Description: Very easy to use self serve region protection! Has support for subdivisions, container trust, full trust, or just door/button access trust! Stops lava, fire spread, ability to disable use of water/lava outside claims, and stops explosion damage above sea level; even stops most tekkit explosions (nukes, reactors, engines) with exception to nova cataclysm and catalyst. The plugin can use either flatfile or database for data storage (blocks earned, claims). Pretty much everything in the plugin can be toggled on or off if you don't want a certain function. Also has support for dynmap to show claims, claim owner, and the people that are trusted into claim. Theres a few more features that i forgot to mention, but most importantly the author of the plugin seems to listen to the tekkit crowd as the modded item list was a product of that!

Tekkit Compatibility: Very compatible with tekkit as of recent patches. You must use version 5.5.1! Previous versions had a buggy mod item list, that would wipe itself but only wipe the mod items, nothing else in config. It protects claims from everything except the nova catalyst/cataclysm, and computer craft turtles. I can't say much for the EE red matter or dark matter tools as I don't have those enabled in my server.

I highly recommend this as a set it and forget it region protection plugin! Ive been using it since 2.1.1, and it still impresses me as I use it more. Its definitely worth watching a few of the videos the author made on it.

I would also agree with this, I was talking with the creator of this and have been using it from about v5.2 and got many of these features added in fixed. He's a very active guy, listens to all suggestions and works quickly. Never seen such great support for a plugin and would also recommend this.

I would also recommend this plugin - my favourite for disabling items.

Plugin Name: NoItem

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/noitem/

Description: It allows you to easily disable crafting, placement, breaking, brewing, cooking (furnaces), dropping and even more of items or blocks. There is a full list of permissions on the BukkitDev page. If you have PermissionsEx and want to disable a filler for a new user, you could simply add noitem.(nocraft|noplace).x155 and they won't be able to craft or place it. I would recommend it over using ModifyWorld and disablecraft as it does both their jobs in one place, and does it well.

Tekkit Compatibility: It's semi-compatible - You can't block cooking certain items in machines or any other machines in Tekkit, but you can block picking up, dropping, placing, breaking, holding, wearing, crafting and using of any Tekkit item.

my server im looking for a plugin for tekkit 3.1.2 that gives you money for killing mobs thats compatible with essentialsECO i also recommend the plugin....

Plugin Name: ChopTree2

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/choptree2/

Description: Allows you to chop down trees with ease, has permission support. The point in having this is that most mods are pretty heavy on coal, so with an electric furnace from ic2 players can get ampule charcoal as an alternative fuel to coal since coal is so desirable.

Tekkit Compatibility: works perfectly no issues so far

Plugin Name: ecoCreature

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/ecocreature/

Description: Allows you to reward users with a rare custom drop for killing mobs, also allows you to disable things like spawner camping.

Tekkit Compatibility: Custom object names when killing a mob are displayed as their ID, other than that I've seen nothing else.

Heres what i used for a little bit on my server, but i couldn't get it to work on anything but default configs. It was still pretty cool though, and it supports vault so you can use pretty much any eco plugin with it.

Plugin Name: Mob Bounty Reloaded

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mobbountyreloaded/

Description: Configurable drops, rewards, and fines for killing mobs, players, animals. Has option to not count mobspawners, and other anti cheating/exploit functions.

Tekkit Compatibility: I used this on my server very briefly when it was version 210 (it is now v235). I could not get it to keep my configs in any of the configuration files, but im sure thats changed as its in version 235. During the time I played around with it though, it worked just as intended but with default configs. I would've kept it if my changes to the configs would've stuck. But give it a try and see if you have better luck than me!

Plugin Name: Money Drop

BukkitDev Link: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/econ-mech-moneydrop-v1-6-2-drop-tangible-virtual-money-from-players-and-mobs-spout-1-2-5-r1.33485/

Description: It drops tangible items when you kill a mob ex. industrial credits

Tekkit Compatibility: like i said you can easily config it to drop industrial credits and so far im having no problems with it. Also if ppl try to craft the items mobs drop it doesn't count as money, you can also disable craft of Icredits anyway.

Plugin Name: DynaMark v0.2.0.0

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/dynamicmarket/

Description: A simple dynamically prices virtual market

Tekkit Compatibility: I found using the alternative command download gave me no errors. Although the plugin does not buy/sell all items (mod blocks) it works well.

I would like to suggest HyperConomy instead.

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/hyperconomy/

Description: creates a virtual marketplace where players can sell items to and buy items from. Prices adjust dynamically according to supply and demand. Supports a bunch of things like chestshops, taxes, and it's even got a built-in website (Feel free to check our server's market page @ http://play.promethea-tekkit.com:8765/)

Tekkit Compatibility: it supports Tekkit items flawlessly. We have mining lasers, swiftwolf's rings, and a bunch of other Tekkit items for sale at high prices on our server. And of course we have basic ones like copper, tin, silver, nikolite, marble, basalt, blue alloy ingots, red alloy ingots, etc.

---

I vouch for GriefPrevention myself. Both users and admins love it in Promethea. It's easy to use and to configure, and I hear mod items are supported as well, although we choose to protect those with LWC instead.

Plugin Name: SWatchdog

Tekkit Compatibility: he has made a build specifically for tekkit! perfect! as of this post it is at version 1.13T

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/autosaveworld/

Description: This mod automatically saves and can backup your world including your plugins folder to a completely separate folder on your system. You can also configure the mod's delay between saves and backups.

Tekkit Compatibility: I've been using this mod for about a week now and I have noticed to problems at all

I have been unable to make this mod work with Tekkit 3.1.2. Although the author says hes going to update it when he gets back, but I can't get the buy functions to work, everything else is working fantastic.

We're running 0.941 (not the latest version). Maybe something broke on later versions?

Note that 0.944 (the latest version) is for 1.3.1.

I think is version he is putting out as the tekkit compatible version is .942. It might be a case of the cart got before the horse. I'll check it out later today when I get the chance and see if that was the case.

Looking for a lightweight plugin, that will add like chat groups to reduce the amount of global chat, sort of like faction chat but without all the land claiming and such

also i good plugin that i use on my server...

Plugin Name: Cenotaph

BukkitDev Link: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/sec-misc-cenotaph-2-1-2-a-dead-mans-chest-plugin-1-2-5-r1-0-2149.20066/

Description: places a chest on your death point that will hold your items, dead man chest basically, has a quickloot feature too, where one click gets you all the items in the chest as if your were walking over them. easy config and perms support.

Tekkit Compatibility: full compatibility, no promblems

while I love Swatchdog's Ideals and functions however most times it does not rollback properly and when it does it does not roll back ic2 machines properly and you have to wrench them. one that works like Swatchdog but also logs chests you may or may not of heard of it CoreProtect

corelogo.png.-m1.png

Plugin Name: CoreProtect

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/coreprotect/

Description: CoreProtect is a fast, efficient, data logging and anti-griefing tool. Rollback and restore any amount of damage. Designed with large servers in mind, CoreProtect will record and manage data without impacting your server performance.

Tekkit Compatibility: Fully compatible with mod blocks and tekkit

residencelogocrop.png

Plugin Name: Residence

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/residence/

Description: Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

Tekkit Compatibility: Fully compatible with mod blocks. while naturaly the mod blocks inventorys are not secure with residence if you look through the config you can find options for custom right click events and custom blocks, doing this gives you the ability to fully protect any block mod or not. Slight damage bug as some modded items bypass the damage flag if damage is disabled on a res.

logo_sketch.png

Plugin Name: PEX

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/permissionsex/

Description: PermissionsEx (PEX) is a new permissions plugin, based on Permissions ideas and supports all of its features. But PEX is more! It offers different backends, powerful ingame management, fine grained restrictions for world modification.

Tekkit Compatibility: Fully Compatible and in my opinion the best perm system to use

logo.png

Plugin Name: Buycraft

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/buycraft/

Description: Buycraft is a real money donation system designed to automate rewarding donators. A donator can purchase a package from you and buycraft runs a console command based on what you tell it to do. This can be giving the donator an item/items or permission basicly anything that has a command for it buycraft can execute it. Buycraft also features an expiring system example: "VIP package 1 month" when a player buys that package it will execute something like "pex set player group vip" and after 30 days it will automaticly perform the command "pex set player group default"

Tekkit Compatibility: fully compatible except due to the way ic2 uses dmg values buycraft cannot reward a player with a charged item. while it may look like the item is charged this is merely just a gui glitch

dynmap_shot1.png.-m1.png

Plugin Name: Dynmap

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/dynmap/

Description: A Google Maps-like map for your Minecraft server that can be viewed in a browser. Easy to set up when making use of Dynmap's integrated webserver which works out-of-the-box, while also available to be integrated into existing websites running on Apache and the like. Dynmap can render your worlds using different renderers, some suitable for performance, some for high detail.

Tekkit Compatibility: as stated here http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/dynmap-on-tekkit.2006/ the developer of this plugin fully supports tekkit. however RP microblocks to my experience dont like it

90661887.jpg.-m1.png

Plugin Name: mcMMO

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/mcmmo/

Description: If your looking for an RPG plugin mcMMO is definately the way to go. Most of you already know what this plugin does but are afraid to use it because you hear that it doesnt get along with tekkit.

Tekkit Compatibility: Until recently mcMMO and RP2 didnt get along so well. In the latest dev's of mcMMO these issues were fixed.

I could spam you guys with plugins all day but these are my top pick If your intrested in more or need help setting some of these up PM me.

Plugin Name: Factions (Beta 1.7.5)

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/factions/

Description: A "Guild" plugin that allows for players to make area guarded bases on a number of factors such as, Amount of Members (In the Faction), Power (You Die = Lower Power) and much more! Players fight to become the top faction! Recommend ONLY for PvP/Raiding/Griefing!

Tekkit Compatibility: *New Line*

Tekkit doesn't like any other version of Factions. You must use 1.7.5 Beta. 1.7.5 Beta is about the same but with commands changed and others taken out (f chat being one D:).

Factions DOESN'T by default allow Mods to Edit Terrain/Work in the guarded areas, but this is a simple fix. Replace this link in the config ("playersWhoBypassAllProtection": []) to ("playersWhoBypassAllProtection": ["[buildCraft]", "[industralCraft]", "[RedPower]", "[ComputerCraft]"]) LEAVE OUT THE "()"

Not sure I could recommend CoreProtect. It does offer tekkit compatibility, but it is also very demanding. Notice that it was designed for large servers, so smaller ones should stay away from it. The last 3 times I have tried to install this plugin, it has cause major server lag to the point were my server was unplayable. If you run a smaller server, I would recommend watchdog simply because its easier on the server, even if it does not offer full role back capability.

Here are a few of my recommendations:

Plugin Name: ChestRestock

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/chestrestock/

Description: This plugin allows admin to set up chests that automatically restock based on configurable parameters. This will allow you to create special chests for a variety of situations. You could create a chest for people new to your server containing a set of starter gear that they can only loot once. Or make reward chests in dungeons where you don't have to worry about them being empty.

Tekkit Compatibility: As far as I have tested, it is fully compatible with tekkit. I have tried nearly all items and it really does seem to not have any issues so far.

Plugin Name: Trade

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/trade/

Description: A simple trading plugin that reminds one a lot of the system in runescape. Simply right click on another player, and when he right clicks on you, a trade menu will open. Drag the items into the menu and hit the green wool block to accept or the red wool block to reject. You also can use commands, but they are optional.

Tekkit Compatibility: Fully compatible.

Plugin Name: OpenInv

BukkitDev Link: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/openinv/

Description: Open a player's inventory as a chest and interact with it in real time. You can modify it as you wish (trade with it).

Tekkit Compatibility: Fully compatible

These might not be "game changing plugins" but they are simple to work with, easy to set up, and quite frankly all around useful. Also, I would really like to recommend the trade plugin because it is very light weight and it doesn't seem to really popular despite its usefulness, especially on RP servers.

sct: "To keep everything organized you should use the following format"

Part of forum posting is knowing where to post. Stickied threads are generally reserved for stickied items, not asking for help of any kind. It's supposed to be a source of information, and cluttering it up with help requests, especially help requests that quote the entire post, is the best way to make it useless for that. Start your own thread.
