MinecraftrGi Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Alright the purpose of this thread is to list as many sites as we can that can host a modpack zip. There are some conditions for adding sites to the list. They must: 1. Be Free 2. Give a Direct Link to the file that can be used to download directly (no secondary pages) 3. Have enough capacity to host a large zip modpack (around 250mb) The list so far: 1. Dropbox (right click on download button and use the link to that button)(bandwidth limit) 2. www.ge.tt (technicpack.net times out or says the link is an invalid download location, good host for manual downloads though) 3. Ubuntu One (not working for me, gets stuck on connecting screen when uploading) 4.https://mega.co.nz (doesn't have direct links, good for hosting manual installation of pack) 5.omploader (not working for me, gets interrupted connection) What about Sugarsync? https://www.sugarsync.com/ Its very similar to dropbox, and it allows 5GB or storage and I don't believe there is a bandwith limit. I've used Sugarsync before and its a great option. It might appear not to be free, but it has a 5Gb Option. For free 5Gb go to: https://www.sugarsync.com/free/ Quote
profjb Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Personally, from my experience the only GOOD way to host a file is via ftp. This requires a little knowledge but just go for a free webhost e.g. 000webhost and setup an ftp account, upload the files you need, go to the website address and just copy the links. - However, I would recommend bitbucket. Just upload each new .zip file with a commit (changelog) and copy the links, you can make free private repository's with bitbucket and it much exceeds the github file limit. Quote
RONNOC777 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I found a free webhost and it's pretty amazing! It's free unlimited bandwidth and all! I host my modpacks on there and I even made a website for it! Link: x10hosting.com You need a bit of knowledge to use it. All you need to do is register, then go onto the Cpanel. Go onto File Manager. In directory selection choose Web Root. Then upload your zip there. Go to your main address for the website, right click the zip copy and paste it into your technic URL. Quote
profjb Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Wow... Ron I literaly just said the same thing pretty much. I suppose you went in to a little more detail. Quote
dookleeto Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 000webhost does not seem to work, it gets to 30% of my download then fails everytime, after a few tries it fails to connect altogether. x10 seemed to work for me, but you have to login every month or they cancel your account, can be annoying if you forget. CzerPL Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 So mediafire stop working after day. I used dropbox too but "This account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled" so I need another hosting site. I searched some but all sites that I found are generating new links. How can I don't get my dropbox account banned? Quote

CzerPL Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Thank You. I'm uploading files now on copy.com, hope there won't be errors like when I used mediafire. Quote
FatsackTony Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Forgive my ignorance, but I've tried everything on the copy.com website to get the direct link and everytime i test it with the platform it errors. Any advice? Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 11, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 11, 2014 Forgive my ignorance, but I've tried everything on the copy.com website to get the direct link and everytime i test it with the platform it errors. Any advice?  I was able to get a direct download to a file after sharing the file like normal and getting a URL like this: https://copy.com/ryu0zTQTXApw I tacked on the actual file name like so https://copy.com/ryu0zTQTXApw/LoTRCircles64x_Fancy.zip and it allowed me to download the file directly without having to interact on a web page. MM1001 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Speaking of Dropbox, I can't seem to find a way to get the direct link for my mod pack's zip file. Anyone know how? And I'm running this on Windwos 7, if that helps anything. Quote

Was that .zip file you were using a Winrar .zip file? Just wondering cuz I tried what you did and it still had not worked when I launched it, and the only other thing I can think of that may be wrong is either the modpack or the link... Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted March 23, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted March 23, 2014 Hmm, guess I could have been more specific. Also, it turns out you can just put "?download=1" at the end of the public link and it works as well. A bit simpler that way. Quote
awsomeaassasin Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Anyone have any suggestions for a good file host(ideally not for manual downloads)? Currently I use Dropbox to host my modpack files, but if my modpack gets overwhelmingly popular and Dropbox suspends my account I'll ditch it. I've heard about linking Dropbox files through Google Downloads(yes, I use Chrome), but when I try to do this, and enter this into my modpack location, it tells me to enter a valid location for my custom .zip. I'm open to suggestions. Quote
Stone Rhino Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Soooo....anyone try sky/one drive from MS? Â Nope, better, but ultimately same boat as google. Same with Amazon's drive system as well. Edited April 4, 2014 by Stone Rhino Quote
destessm Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I'm just trying to test out my modpack, and I have been trying all of the hosting sites that I have found in various threads including this one (copy.com, dropbox, x10hosting) and nothing seems to work. I always get the same error, "Invalid technic platform delivery URL". I think dropbox is because i have a relatively new account and don't have a public folder, but I feel like copy.com and x10hosting should have worked properly. Any suggestions? Maybe it's a problem with my launcher? I'm doing this from Mac OS X.  If not hosting, is there an easier way to just test a modpack with technic? I'm new to this whole thing and I don't really expect to end up with a great modpack that I would try to share around, just something for me and a few friends to play on. Thanks! Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted May 26, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted May 26, 2014 For copy.com simply take any public share URL you create and add "?download=1" (without quotes) to make it a direct link which will work on the platform. Quote
ThePagan Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Ubuntu One is ceasing their file hosting services. Just saw this the other day and thought I'd share. Quote
JackassBuilder_7 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 OK, so I've come up with a solution, because I couldn't get anything else to work. So first off I use Mega.co.nz to upload, then get the link. Go to generatorlinkpremium.com to convert it to direct download. Then you go right click the download link and click "Copy link adress." Now it's just up to paste it into Modpack Location. Hope this really does help. Quote
Nub_Yuggernaut Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 whats this about manual install? making a modpack for me and my litl bro, if there was a way to host the file from a shared folder on LAN that would be ideal. very new to this stuff and the modpack is going to need a lot of testing and config. Quote
Discord Moderator plowmanplow Posted June 1, 2014 Discord Moderator Posted June 1, 2014 You are not going to be able to host the file in an internal network. In theory it would work for the client, but the Technic modpack interface will not allow you to post a modpack URL link that it cannot see. Quote
acmr212 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 with dropbox now you have to pay to enable public folder Quote
