Smurfkiller9000 Posted December 18, 2012 Author Posted December 18, 2012 This thread has got a lot more people on it than I expected. And I also expected most of you to have bought it in Alpha/Beta and not recently. Quote
Viktor_Berg Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I started playing since Indev. So yeah, I was one of the first people to buy it. If I dig hard enough on my home PC, I might be able to dig up an indev screenshot or two. I'm at work, though. Ah, the day when Infdev came out. Oh no, the day when they fixed cart collisions making it impossible to make cart boosters that'd propel you at 150 sanics/h for several thousand blocks. Quote
Viktor_Berg Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 · Hidden Hidden Jesus Christ, this is the first time I've double posted in years. Now to figure out how to delete it, so goddamn embarrassing.
ngwoo Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 many. The multiplayer was terribad for a long time. Early minecarts had a tendency to clip into something and go flying off at high speeds. There was even a period of time right at the beginning where player inventories weren't server-side, right? I remember something like that. Quote
crzymn777 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I started around 1.7.3. It was amazing seeing my first world, then frantically turning down the settings as my computer chugged along at a humbling 2 FPS. Quote
fidchelle Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Because everyone here must know the game well, did most people get it in Alpha? Or did you jump on the bandwagon and get it after the end of Beta? Myself, I got it around Beta 1.5-1.6. I pirated obtained a legal demo of the game during infdev to play with it, I instantly fell for it and realized I wanted those updates asap. So I went ahead and shelled out the 10$ for it. No regrets. Quote
burnedbacon Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Forgot exact version but was early alpha. I remember being overjoyed with my cliff side house (I miss the hilariously bad terrain generation) and the brand new furnace cart. I immediately spent a small mountain of iron for tracks only to see it chunk along at a less-than-walking pace. Quote
xchampx13 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I can remember exact time but it was either late alpha or very early beta. Quote
Captain Scar Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I started around late 1.7.3 after hearing about it from one of my teachers in school. Honestly, I tracked it since early alpha but didn't feel the need to try it. I finally bought it and was overjoyed by the simplicity. I have been a mod user since I first bought the game. Quote
holymage! Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 since like 1.1 beta haha...started my modding carrer at about 1.6 or so technic in 1.7.3 :) Quote
NightKev Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Thankfully, while it was still in Alpha (near the end I think, too). Quote
andrewdonshik Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I played a totally legal demo from 1.8.1 to April of 1.2.5. Then I bought it. Quote
Keeshi Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 sometime in early alpha... dont remember the version. Quote
SimpleGuy Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 My cousins had been playing Minecraft all through the Alpha. I wound up finally caving to play with them during the beta right before wolves were introduced. Quote
Cheap Shot Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Way long ago. Back when we only had creative. I bought it so I could have a custom skin right around or before the first survival build. Indev I think? No enemies at first and maps had very tight limits. Quote
Captain Scar Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I love how even Cheap Shot is being honest on this thread :D Quote
LizDiggory Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I didn't start playing till after the 1.0 release when my sister bought it for me for Christmas. Quote
miniboxer Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I first heard of it when it was around alpha 1.2.2 or something like that. Didn't catch my attention. I later saw a video of equivalent exchange, when the game was in 1.7.3. I immediately acquired a 100% legal copy, and had a blast. I probably would have never bought it due to cash problems for a while, but then technic went to the launcher. I loved technic so much I immediately threw my money at the screen. This was in 1.1 of course. Quote
M-C Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I bought Minecraft the version after the fences were added... Can't remember exactly which version that is. Quote
Varrock010 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I'm a old player been here since beta of minecraft lol Quote
The Merchant of Menace Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I pirated it about 2 months before it went into Beta, and then someone gifted the first beta version to me when it came out. Quote
Dr_Appleman Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I first bought the bought the game in late alpha I think since it was just before the Halloween update but that account got hacked so I bought it again in semi-late beta between my account being hacked and me buying minecraft again I played using a hacked client. Quote
SPGold Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Beta 1.3. The nice old days when you could hit through doors and worry about the piece of TNT you accidently placed. Quote
Chefsbrian Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I bought It just the week before the Halloween update, a friend at my work introduced me to the game. At first I was very confused watching it on his computer, then when I started playing, it all made sense. Quote
